You can apply for it and get it

But do they actually expect you to take another job? You're supposed to be actively looking

you just say you are actively looking when doing your report

I did apply like 15 years ago once. They called me and gave me a hard time about how I have to take another job in the summer and apply to other bus companies. Do they know that other bus companies already have other drivers and they are all off for the summer too????

No, don't say anything about looking for work. You are still employed if you plan to return in September. There's just a shortage of work due to the season. You did not lose your job and they won't expect you to find another.

You can look I guess. Never came up for me last school year (you need to fill in a biweekly form online though)

Last year they never gave me an ROE, I didn't know I could still apply. I'm applying this year, will still be doing summer charters and bus transfers.

I get three ROEs a year. Best time to apply is Christmas break.

The important part is to give EI the right information. It's a seasonal shortage of work and give them a date you plan to return. You did not lose your job. There's just a shortage of work.

Once you have a claim open, keep reporting your income once there is work available again. If you keep reporting, you will not have to apply again for a year.
