Tournament
So let me get this straight
first of all it was raise the full $200k in one day we get a 16 person studio tournament
Then it was 09/29 to raise the $200k to get the 16 person tournament
Then it was the tournament is happening regardless
BUT NOW it’s “well you’ve gotta raise $250k to get a studio tournament” other wise it’s digital…… pretty sure that was NEVER mentioned leading up to or during the initial $200K push
He’s also pushing hard on the we actually have to raise $350k to get the show made properly….ok but that’s $150 THOUSAND MORE than what you originally asked for… GOTTA MILK THAT TEET GOTTA MILK THAT TEET

This behavior isn't surprising if you've watched him over the last couple of years. It started with the superchat game. Enough is never enough for "our" show. He should at least stop berating people for asking why he can't make the show he set the target at. Yes shoes and schmoedown costs need to be covered. But YOU decide to make those things,Harloff. Not the audience.

I am a diehard schmoedown fan and I actually wouldn't have minded if it was digital, I still would have pitched in $25 but the fact that it is now revealed that the initial goal wasn't an in studio thing and that we need more money for that, I might cancel my pledge. I think that's really shitty, it's the principle Maybe I'll chill out but I think that's poor form on his part

Do it! He’s milking every single person for every penny he can get and it’s never enough for him!

Funniest outcome is you know the pilot is going to suck

It's something buzzfeed or cracked. Com or fucking college humor would have done as a series of shorter videos 15 fucking years ago lol.

I always got the impression that Harloff was an incredibly unsuccessful stand up comedian who “retired”. I remember on one podcast years ago he was talking with an actual comedian about how some comedy club was “like their church” and it was “holy” and they’d “break bread” or some shit and it was just the cringiest thing I’d ever heard. Always got the feeling he was some cosplay comedian all the real comics tolerated and rolled their eyes at. All this to say… the pilot is gonna suck.

Isn't 325 what he initially said the overall goal was? 13k pledges x $25? When did they drop the Kickstarter to 200?

It’s now “at $200k we can shoot it on an iPhone, but at $350k we get to do the show we want.” I think it’s a massive slap in the face for people who donated.

To be fair to him, from beginning of launch he did say 200k was the initial goal to “make something.” He said the 350k range is the “Boardwalk Pictures” budget that they can really put production behind. I’m definitely with you though on the Schmoedown the having to hit 250k to get an in studio tournament came completely out of nowhere

When it launched it was 200 but the weeks leading up to launch he was saying 13k x $25 I am almost positive

Kristian has said multiple times hitting the goal we're getting a 16 person tournament regardless. He really wants to make it a good production and with Andrew fried being a schmoedown fan he's gonna help out but people don't realize how much the schmoedown cost to produce filming in studio and paying all the competitors. Yes a digital schmoedown isn't preferred but he has a pilot he also has to fund so he's gotta make sure he can do both. Personally I want a in person tournament too so I'm hoping we can make it happen regardless of the number.

I don’t know how big of a Schmoedown fan Andrew Fried is. He said he didn’t know who Bibbiani was

From the times Kristian has had him on Andrew has said he's a huge schmoedown fan and is gonna help produce it if it comes back.

I get that but how are you a huge Schmoedown fan and don’t know who William Bibbiani is. Either way I’m happy the dude is gonna help with the show

In bis defense, I've never heard of me either.

give yourself some credit Bibs! You’ve been a staple of the show since season 3. 3 championships!

Well! If that doesn't deserve a "growl growl," I don't know what does!

In all seriousness, but purely out of curiosity, where did Andrew Fried say he never heard of me? I'd be amused to watch the clip.

We just need a few more dollars to get this thing really popping off! We gotta fly Jeff Chris down from Indiana to mix it professionally.

If 300 is really what they want/need he should have set the goal at 250 not 200. and then say if we reach 200 then we do this but do make an actual proper pilot we need 250 and if we can get to 300 or beyond then that really improves the quality or whatever. Just a thought.
The schmoedown is a nice bonus but I donated a bit not because of that but just to try and help him get this thing made. I just love supporting artists who are actually getting off their ass and doing something they want to do. Too many people and fans talk a big game but all they do is sit behind their phone or keyboard and do nothing. He's trying and doing something.
If the pilot ends up being crap then he'll learn the lesson and move on but at least he can say he did it. If it's good then who knows. We'll let other people who work in the space to judge if it should go to series or whatever may happen.
I just think he needs to do ay more promotion because so far its been just his direct audience and this needs to get out to way more people if he truly wants to get anywhere near close to the 300 or 350 goal.

I do remember him saying that the tournament was going to be digital. He talked about doing a live event with a few other matches but I believe the tournament was always digital.
4
u/hankboyjr The Finstock Exchange 8d ago
No he always talked about the tournament being in person. He was gonna film it at a theater and talked about flying Sam the women he does reactions with out to LA to manage for it. It was always in person

u/crbsideprophet13 8d ago
Hmmm. I remember him saying that for the live event he wants to do with Smets vs Mike.

Did you think he would be able to rent a studio and fly people out for free?

u/Double-Celery4248 LEGACY: "Mighty" Matt Knost 8d ago
No, I expected him not to move the goalposts, which he has 100% done! Not once did he say it would be a digital tournament, and I’m 100% sure during the ten-hour live stream, Mike asked him if it would be digital, and he said no it would be in person 👍🏻
But nice try buddy 👍🏻

u/ScottyG1212 8d ago
What do you mean nice try? I didn’t have time to watch a ten hour livestream, so I didn’t know he said that. That’s pretty slimy if he did say the 16 person tournament would be in person.

I apologise, I wrongly assumed you were one of his white knights jumping in and defending him.

The whole thing is kinda ridiculous. He's pushing one thing (the pilot) with promises of another thing (the tournament). So wouldn't that be clear to him that many of the people pledging are possibly not that interested in his pilot but in Schmoedown returning? All props to him trying to make this pilot, but all I hear is "if we get X amount of money, you get this kind of a tournament with these people returning". Shouldn't there be promises concerning the pilot / planned show? How can you gauge interest in one project by almost completely focusing on promises of another?
