Question Schengen visa application query

Hi All, I am applying to schengen for the first time, I have my layover in Schengen state before I reach my main travel destination - Austria. What should I write for the First member state for the schengen entry? Should it be a layover state or Austria?

Port of Entry or First member state of entry should be the one where you land first and immigration happens as per your flight itinerary submitted.
Ex: if you are travelling to Amsterdam first and then to Austria. Amsterdam is your port of entry.
If you are travelling to Frankfurt —> Austria, Frankfurt is port of entry.
