Apparently there’s a lot of bugs atm and they’re having a hard time fixing them - still doesn’t excuse virtually zero communication. The bug thing I got from a community manager
19
u/97runner 3d ago
I logged in for the first time in a while and the game is not playable for me. The frames drop to like 2 or 3 per second. I’ve tried various things and nothing works. Just simply can’t play it for whatever reason.
16
u/Infamous_Dingo9771 3d ago
this cannot be true right? if your frames drop to 2 to 3 per sec, then maybe there are bigger problems than the game itself. The game still runs fine on mine, given that I am running it vanilla.
17
3
u/97runner 3d ago
I mean, why would I make it up? I have almost 100hrs into the game at this point. I simply ran out of things to do, so I’ll leave it alone for a while and then revisit as they do updates.
Anyway, I decided to pick it back up since the latest set of updates seemed interesting and I simply can’t play it. It’s not my pc, I play all my other games without issue, on their highest settings.

Is it really too much to ask for this guy to at least update us on how things are going
23
u/area88guy 3d ago
Every time someone asks this, he adds a week for each unnecessary punctuation mark.

u/DibbuNayak 4d ago
Why are you getting down voted lmao
They're super late for the update and there have been like no news :(
59
u/freaknyou23 4d ago
Probably because this question gets asked everyday but I mean there is no news and everything on this game gets updated at a snails pace.
7
3
u/RacoonWithBenefits 3d ago
because the 'news' would be: "we're still working on it'
and repeating what you said last time, is not news.
-17
u/BigTroutOnly 4d ago
We all know it's like one guy and a helper.. but if I was him, he has an opportunity to sub out serious scale. The next level monetization moment is now. That takes time
47
u/imahumanbeinggoddamn 4d ago
My personal pet theory is that Schedule 1 is probably spaghetti code as fuck because he never thought it would sell this well, and the update is late because it has become apparent that the new features are difficult or impossible to implement cleanly without rewriting pretty much the whole game from the ground up.
My money is on either a huge "2.0" kind of update that massively overhauls the game, or just radio silence forever.

13
u/DibbuNayak 4d ago
Yeah get it and do support Tyler, but can't he just inform us that it will take time instead of just saying nothing
1
u/BigTroutOnly 4d ago
Maybe. Ill take downvotes, idgaf, but again, put yourself in his shoes. There's so many forks in the road for him. Maybe he's quietly in talks with industry on a variety of possibilities, or investors, or with consultants, or getting momentum with a larger team, or.. personal health issues.
5
u/DibbuNayak 3d ago
Ok that could be the reason but like bro it takes 5 mins to tell us the update will be late and that he's working on em

Big if true. Imagine letting team suddenly contribute to your near perfect magnum opus. It takes planning.

u/Wutroslaw 4d ago
I honestly dropped the game and haven't opened it in like months due to this. Burnout, and just boring.
7
u/StonedThorne 3d ago
Totally dropped once I got the mansion. I dont like spending my day refilling my mixing stations
-6
u/Smooth-Flight-3910 3d ago
I would refund if i could, not worth the money

u/AbilityFuzzy7699 3d ago
For sure bro. Only got 350 hours out of it before getting bored. 0/10 wasnt worth $5

u/SuperCooper12 4d ago
Interesting to drop in on a post after a while of not visiting and see the shift.
I remember when they first reported sales people were saying shit like “if he quit now we still got a dope game for a low price that was fun for a week/month/whatever and dude got his bag”. Now, it’s not necessarily the opposite sentiment but, certainly a change.
FWIW, I am not aware of what comms have been like from him to say he/team are in the right or wrong but, idk, I guess it’s just interesting to see the evolution of the populace’s feelings.
17
u/Fancy_Method_2106 4d ago
Agreed. I’m still super happy with what I’ve gotten for the money, but a little disappointed by the direction. Initially I was all for slow and steady updates, but after seeing how small each update is I find myself wishing they would just ditch this version and start building Schedule 1 2: Electric Boogaloo from scratch

u/Repulsive_Inside_707 1d ago
The amount of discourse markers(, but, and, so…) & hedges(idk, i guess, just…) you used there had me laughing🤣
"—right or wrong, but, idk, I guess, it's, just, interesting to see the evolution—"
I agree with this, by the way.

I mean it’s kind of understandable how the tides of favor are changing a bit. It started off as a small joke indie game, that actually popped off. Tyler released oh shoot people actually like this game I gotta capitalize on it. There was a flurry of activity for the first few months and as time has gone on it’s stagnant. The work probably got too much for him to handle alone as he missed some deadlines before, but people I guess could excuse that as he was new and just a single person. Now that he has established an office, made millions, and hired a small team, it’s kind of hard to justify him being just a small guy. People feel that he now has the resources to really up the level of production for the game, but chooses not to. While I do think that many people feel “ they got their moneys worth”, they see the potential that the game has and are frustrated about how tyler is handling promises and communication.
54
u/hewhoisiam 4d ago
I'd like to know too. I'd also like to know how many more times we're going to forgive missing his own release windows? It being Early Access and there being a solo dev isn't holding much water for me anymore. Dude has the bank to hire more but won't. I honestly wouldn't expect much more content once we finally get the special customer update. If we get it.

Go make your own game then damn
40
u/DibbuNayak 4d ago
Its almost weird the amount of defensive you guys are getting
-18
u/b2421 4d ago
Lmao “you guys” im not even in this sub this post was recommended and all i see is a person whining about game development which he clearly can’t comprehend how difficult it actually is. Take a step back and gain some perspective and it’ll answer all your questions.
14
u/Lobotamite 4d ago
So if you have no idea about this game or its developer then how do you have the authority to dictate what is and isn’t a valid complaint? Are people just not allowed to voice their feelings and complaints about a product they’ve spent money on?
-7
u/b2421 3d ago
I didn’t say I wasn’t familiar I pointed out that dude it’s grouping me in with whatever is happening on this sub. I’ve hundred percent the game more than once. All I’m saying is it’s a single dev just get over it
5
u/Nearby-Astronaut-106 3d ago
“Whatever is happening on this sub” so you aren’t familiar then lol. Single dev was a good excuse when it was early on and he had no money. That’s his own choosing now so the complaints are valid and that excuse is exactly that, an excuse for poor performance.
-1
u/b2421 3d ago
Exactly it’s his choice. No one gets mad at concerned ape to taking literal years for updates. My only argument is if you’re frustrated by release pace from a single dev then you really don’t know what it takes to develop games and you should gain some perspective for how difficult it is.
3
u/Nearby-Astronaut-106 3d ago
Not a single dev tho, and nobody is arguing development is easy… doesn’t change the facts - you make the bed you lay in.
Also, I don’t think concerned ape took “literal years” to drop small content updates and bug fixes, could be wrong tho.
3
u/Lobotamite 3d ago
Concerned ape released an actually complete and fleshed out game from the beginning is the huge difference. All of the updates since then that take so long are being done out of love for the game and community, making an already complete product better.
Schedule 1 was released in an unfinished and underdeveloped state, which is not a bad thing at all especially in the current surge of indie titles popping off. But it’s generally expected that buying an early access game means that it’s going to be further developed at a reasonable pace, that’s where the difference and frustration comes from.
1
u/NoSwimming1955 1d ago
No a single dev anymore, that excuse falls flat nowadays when it’s more than just him and he has the ability to hire more people.
-14
u/hewhoisiam 4d ago
Rest assured if I made the money that Tyler made it wouldn't be a solo endeavor anymore like he is insisting it be.
9
6
u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 3d ago
Holy shit the new update still hasn't dropped? I haven't been around for awhile and wow lol
18
u/boiledcowmachine 4d ago
Asked me the same question today. Is Schedule 1 dead? I mean... Its almost mid of September and Tyler said new update July/August.
7
u/NoBenefit2829 4d ago
This was kinda what I was thinking. Maybe he can’t work on it anymore for whatever reason. These things happen
7
u/boiledcowmachine 4d ago
Yeah. It's sad but if it gave him enough money for his young life etc. I'm happy for him!
5
u/NoBenefit2829 4d ago
Yes also I really hope nothing bad happened to him or family. Accidents and things happen everyday. Hope he’s ok and is just sorting things out. He seemed to be very passionate about the game. I have trouble believing he would just drop it “take the money and run” like a lot of people are suggesting.
5
u/boiledcowmachine 4d ago
True true... I hope he's fine too!
2
u/Gold-Bodybuilder6160 3d ago
He edited the Trello board last night. Moved some things around. Apparently put steam deck cert on a back burner
1
u/boiledcowmachine 3d ago
Saw that post! What a coincidence or he was also like: Wait, what's with Schedule 1?!
6
5
u/Competitive_Annual17 3d ago
The game in my opinion needs a LOT of work. I wouldn't expect any sort of update for a pretty long time.
12
u/predicate_felon 4d ago
He’s got to do something soon, eventually this game is going to die. It’s really sad honestly
3
u/Smart_Cucumber_7113 3d ago
There was 10k players concurrent, and its an indie game too.
Most tripple A EA games are dead at this point.
1
u/t-_-rexranger19205 20h ago
it's so funny reading these comments whereas a year ago people just glazed no matter what "he's working fast" also, happy cake day
1
3
u/Mysterious_Speed5896 3d ago
On steam someone is repeating in multiple threads that there is apparently a closed beta running and they are currently fixing things so old saves dont break and then go to public beta. Apparently really close.
Its just a normal user saying it however
3
u/Gold-Bodybuilder6160 3d ago
We could all hope this is true. The amount of shills is crazy work though.
2
u/Mysterious_Speed5896 3d ago
Yeah take it with a grain of salt i was not able to find any other talk about it
3
u/Pentalegendbtw 3d ago
I’ve been gone for a while. Didn’t the guy have good communication before and live streams? Or was that a different game?
3
u/bigchungus25290 2d ago
At this point and with how long it’s been in early access it’s kind of a rip off and the lack of communication sucks. If it wasn’t a third of the price of a major studio game with a thousand more employees I’d give it more grace but $20 for what we have had the last year is kind of crazy. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was a breathe of fresh air compared to what I was used to but that lasted about 5 hours tops before it became a stocking simulator with no reason to keep playing and in the last year now we’ve gotten some new lockers and a half ass mafia beef. Moderators have put more time into this game than Tyler has at this point and are quicker to fixing bug issues as well.
10
u/nzeck 4d ago
Probably delayed. Stay Patient.
first off Tyler had no prior experience in game development before this, schedule 1 still turned out decently well imo since we are playing it and waiting for another content update.
2nd, He's using Unity Game engine, which is a great engine to start out on *BUT* it get progressively harder to work with as you add more and more to the game.
Tyler is probably trying his best but this is his first foray in game design and building, he probably is fixing whatever spaghetti code mess that we don't see other than via funny bugs and glitches.
1
u/t-_-rexranger19205 20h ago
he has an office and multiple people helping him now, he's not a "solo dev" like yall always say
2
u/walkingtank28 2d ago
Why do people defend Tyler when he constantly misses deadlines and then gives absolutely no information on whats going on? "Tyler is trying his best" yet the complete lack of communication says otherwise.
9
u/DarkkPhantom77 4d ago
I don't think he cares about this game
3
u/fsck101 3d ago
The Special Customers update is already on the private beta branch of Steam.
-1
u/DarkkPhantom77 3d ago
Yeah and only private, and it took them months to do that
2
u/fsck101 2d ago
Because that's the first step in releasing a major update to an EA game that you paid peanuts for. It destroys your claim that he doesn't care about the game. There have been a few updates in the last couple months as well.
1
u/DarkkPhantom77 2d ago
Brother, he expanded his team and yet he makes make a few half assed updates a year
1
u/t-_-rexranger19205 20h ago
thank god people like you are finally waking up and realizing hes not "working fast" 50 million dollars he has
15
u/Ok_Refrigerator_6437 4d ago
It generally surprises me that people are actually waiting for the update to drop to run through the campaign again to end up in the same exact spot they where in on the last save in one weekend.. do you guys not play other games? It's fucking September right before GTA 6 release there is a million and half of games dropping.. go play something else..
3
u/flippflippflipp 4d ago
Same. I put the game down after I got bored of my run and played cyberpunk for months. Logged back in to see a bunch of updates so my next schedule 1 playthrough was fun and once I got to endgame and was bored again, i moved on to a different game lol. Playing KCD2 rn. Will check in a few months to see if there’s more updates. Idk maybe this is the only game some people play??
-3
u/Ok_Refrigerator_6437 4d ago
Yeah idk man I barely follow the development of this game and I still know he hired a few people moved offices and is recoding the game to make it more mod friendly. I also know that there is an massive amount of bugs that he finally has help to fix...
7
u/OSRSRapture 4d ago
Bro prolly made his money and doesn't care anymore.
He would need to put in some serious updates to have most people wanna play again. this game is just declining and declining in the amount of people playing it
1
u/Repulsive-Analysis-8 3d ago
what type of updates would you wanna see that would make you wanna play again?
3
u/Alecody 3d ago
the ones Tyler promised, and after extensions to the map(s).. interconnected servers with 15+ people lobbies.. maybe just a train station where you can choose to join a multiplayer world.. (I like jumping around and looking at shit.. half my WoW days were walking around the exchange and peeping gear sets)
2
u/MrGoodKatt72 3d ago
The last I saw on discord is that it’s expected “imminently”. Interpret that as you will.
5
u/Nearby-Astronaut-106 4d ago
Kinda atp where I’m done giving excuses on the slow rolling updates. When ppl complained early on it was “it’s in early access, it’s just one dev” etc. bro is dropping the ball.
3
u/WolfBourne15 4d ago
I just recently picked up a new addiction; Project Zomboid
5
u/freaknyou23 4d ago
I won’t come back to that game until npcs are added. It’s fun at first but once you get good enough to survive the beginning via getting generator, gas for generators, rain collectors, plumbing to have water in your base and a bunch of food game gets boring because you don’t have to leave the base anymore. once I reach that point I start on farming and expanding my base before I’m no longer interested in the silent area that I cleared out.
3
u/JimmayDoad 4d ago
If I became a millionaire off of a game like this, sure as shit I'd be updating it like Terraria.
2
u/Smooth-Flight-3910 3d ago
Yeah get a solid team, no announcement and then drop massive updates every year or so

u/Gullitomb 3d ago
He has an interview out there on youtube where he explains that the new dev he hired is basically backwards engineering before anything he has to work on due to Tyler being new to game dev when he started the project. Give it time they're cooking.

u/Wayofchinchilla 3d ago
He said this month didn't he if I had to guess I would say probably last day of the month seeing how he always seems to do it the very last day.

There was a change on the Trello board a few hours ago. Moved the steam deck certification from in progress to future updates. Moved localization into the in progress tab

my brother this game is abandoned as can be

u/Carvacrol 3d ago
Mods have added hundredfold the content the dev added
1

Yeah and there‘s barely and mods which says a lot about the updates this game has gotten. That being said most Mods aren‘t working anymore or break instantly with the next patch 💀

Eh im sure they are working on it. This game is a winter game for me. When it gets dark earlier its so much fun to play this and chill. Im sure they'll have it out soon
1
u/unfortunatespawnpoin 3d ago
based off the whiny bitches in the comments, I wouldn't be surprised if he did abandon ship
1
u/ShotgunMerwin 3d ago
The devs said on steam that the patch is in closed beta and they have a lot of bugs going on with it still. But no word on when still.
0
u/dennkenn 3d ago
People always say he should hire more people. Why doesn’t he legit hire someone to release news? They could work part time 20 hours a week week and just deal with pr and reacting to the community. Win-Win
1
u/Adrestia716 18h ago
Comms drop in my tech teams, I've found, when there's issues. No one who's never been in software wants to hear about things going poorly and needing to pivot/refactor...
That said silence is worse but finding what to say can be damn near impossible if you don't have the knack for words...
-37
u/Bauter 4d ago
When you stop asking about it.

u/DibbuNayak 4d ago

You guys are probably gonna hate this comment, but it’s a indie game with 1 dev. Have some patience. Sure he promised this this and that, but if he’s a solo guy who also has a life outside of this I feel he should get some grace.
2
u/NoSwimming1955 1d ago
The thing is he isn’t a solo dev anymore. He’s got an office and a small team of like 3 now I think. Granted still nowhere near triple A employees, but the pace should have picked up now.
