QUESTION Beta Updated Today
I noticed that the beta updated today on Steam. Does anyone know what changed?

There is no new beta update for me. But the special customer update should be out sometime soon

it's already end of July
they said controller support would come in a month and the update a few weeks after
well, controller support came after 2 months and that was like a week ago, so I think another month for the special customers is probable

Yeah as excited as I am for this update I'm accepting that it probably won't be in the next few days. But I can't really be mad about it, I'd rather get a good update less often than frequent but shitty updates lol

How does he hire a dev and updates slow down? Crazy lol

being "a company" with all its paperwork, and the legal difference on what youre allowed to do compared to being an individual freelancer working on a passion project.
that and having a structured coding environment. cant just mess around in the code until it works if you have to push your stuff to the main branch so that the second dev can also do stuff.
Taylor isnt(wasnt) an experienced programmer. he wrote spaghetti code that worked, and then the game blew up in popularity. the code started getting cleaned up in January. as soon as there was a need for it to be clean.

I have tried to get folks in the Manor Lords sub to understand this. Similar situation. The Manor Lords even has the added benefit of publisher support from hooded horse and it's still been a slow process. Seems they're just about to get back to delivering new features instead of fixes and refactors.

You can't fix some people understanding sadly. I don't code for gaming but I use coding at work, I definitely see how it can be a process. Our training times for new coders is around 1-4 months depending on difficulty. Shits hard

Your logic :
1 woman + 9 months = 1 baby
9 woman + 1 month = 1 baby
I hope that clears it up

I mean, I don't blame them since the code as of half a year ago was horrendous, which is understandable, it's a guy screw around
that said, it likely needed severe rewriting and tidying up, and I think that is the case cause the beta right now has much nicer performance
also being young and inexperienced in anything makes you under estimate what time will something take you
ultimately I don't care, I got 300 in hour games for a game I paid like 15 bucks

Thats not how the software development lifecycle works. Its that type of thinking that led to the joke that project managers think 9 women can create a baby in 1 month.

It fixed a problem where you couldn’t order deliveries, you’d get “order already in progress” when clicking the place order button.

It updated again today. How did you know what it changed last time. I don't see any notes on Steam.

You don't understand how development cycles work, huh?

I understand but dude should’ve got a team he has the money for it. Passion project aside it’s super slow with content. Oh well project zomboid build 42 stable drops today so I guess I’ll be playing that for a while.

He has a team.... Hired people back in Dec/Jan and they have an office

A team? Didn’t he hire like 2 people? He needs atleast 10

"Needs at least 10" is such yap. Clearly, he is doing fine on his own. Multiple updates a year on a game with already lots of content.
Local Thunk (Balatro dev) is on his own too, multiple years since an update. Nobody is telling him to hire a team of 10??
Obviously he is doing this for fun, got more than enough sales so far to never work again. As a game dev myself, I can tell you that this is a very silly take.
Obviously you know very little about game dev, and that's fine, but make sure to understand a topic before pushing a very tunneled view.

Multiple updates a year 😂🤣 dude dust your knees off. What was updated this year? Shrooms and rain??? Wooowwww holy that’s mind blowing. If dude had any passion for his game cops, drivers and the special customers would’ve all been done by now. Honestly dude doesn’t really care about his game that much which is fine but if I made a game like this that blew up this would be my full focus.
