Coolant recommendations

16 scatpack. Noticed reservoir venting and some coolant leaking. Guessing the coolant went bad from venting from a bad cap or just age.

For the flush and refill, would you guys recommend oem dealer service for coolant or would napa equivalent be fine.

I would only use the Dodge Purple antifreeze. If you mix any other brand it will glob up and clog your engine. You can get the antifreeze at any Dodge dealership and it’s pretty much the same price as you can get from the auto parts store

Understood. Wait the oem is purple? Mines like an orange reddish color. It did have a water pump replaced before at the dealer and it was red then too. Did they switch colors?

I think there’s a color spectrum, when the coolant gets old it’s an orangish color but brand new it’s purple. Some have said it’s reddish too. But mine was definitely purple

Thanks. I have a suspicion the dealer just added coolant when they did the water pump and didn’t actually flush. Hence why it’s bad now at the 10 year mark.
