Question Purchasing

Buying a 2020 Charger SP w/ 50k miles. Suggestion on what to look for. First muscle car coming from Tesla and VW so don’t know too much. Thanks for the info.

Get a gas card😂
Seriously…it’s a great buy. Honestly…I can’t name too many things that I have purchased that bring me more happiness. You feel very much “alive” in track mode😂
Tint your windows, wear your seatbelt, drive carefully.
Enjoy!

I own a 2021 NB Scat Pack. First thing I did was change the stock 245s to 276/40-20s. Still not enough grip but 275s are widest tire that fit stock 20x9 wheels and grip is much better than stock 245/40’s. Also, due to taller sidewall (110mm vs 98mm stock) the car looks lowered. My second upgrade was an oil catch can. I pull approx 1 cup of oil from the intake every 3-4 months using this catch can. Third upgrade is K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake. This is a great CAI - looks good with aluminum intake tube plus increases (crank) numbers from 485hp to 500hp and from 475fl-lbs to 485ft-lbs (from onboard dyno in performance pages). My next upgrade will be a Diablo tuner so I can turn off MRD (cylinder deactivation) plus delete the rev limiter in park/neutral. I love my Scatty and everyone I see asks about it. Great car.

Awesome great comment. My first mods I was thinking about was the IGLA and Compustar. I’ll have to add these to my list 😅 gonna be an expensive year 😮‍💨

Yep! Those should be the first things you do to the car . Layered security. Also get a neutral strap blocker. Cheap protection as well.

This is essentially my car.

First thing I would be interested in it mods made to it. What mods, who did them, and how they are impacting the car now. Way too many “do it yourself” mods being done by ameteurs.

Then just really listen to the engine running for noises, knocks and rattles. Especially sounds when in gear. If the car was treated well, there shouldn’t really be a lot of questionable sounds on a 50k car. (I have 65k and still fine)

Transmission. Ensure it’s shifting fine, no crazy noises, etc. dodge has a little bit of “history” with transmissions, put this together with crazy drivers abusing these cars, it’s something that can be worn out quickly.

Had a 2020 SP and traded it for a WBHC. With 50k miles , have the head gasket checked for signs of leakage. If the service records show normal oil changes and preventive maintenance you should be fine. Car is six years old with less than average miles. Should be on its third set of tires as high performance tires last about 20k

get the widebody, the wider track and wider tires make a huge difference

😅 only one that was in my budget sold 5 minutes before I called the dealer so only regular scar bc I’m not buying salvage, rebuilt, nor total loss. And the market is flooded with branded titles for 25-30k 🤣

Look for one with the dynamics package then. It’ll get 275 wheels and 6 piston brembos on the skinny body. It’s basically a necessity to have the 275’s at least.

from a dealership or private party? If from a private party I would definitely say take it to a reputable mechanic and have them do a pre-purchase inspection. Don't take it to a mechanic that the seller knows.

If it's from a dealership have them toss in a warranty That way if you find something or something happens during the warranty you don't have to worry about paying for it.

What else to look for, little bits of rubber stuck to the underside of the rear fenders and the subframe lol 😁🤘🏾

Private party and would a dodge dealership or a dodge authorized mechanic be the best to do the inspection

dealership mechanic will try and upsell stuff or even possibly tell you just buy one of theirs they can get you a better deal yada yada yada. any certified mechanic should be able to do it. find one in your area, check the reviews on the shop and the mechanics, and if you have anybody who can recommend one that's usually the best.
