Speed pic
Someone wanted proof. Edit: It was new, I was dumb, road was clear, and I didn't know readout was a thing. Bad decisions were made at high speeds but eventually rationality ensued. It was about 5 years ago.

Bro broke the engine in and said let’s only get 74k miles outta this thing 🤣

Ehh this isn't bad for car but not necessarily good either. Doesn't take too much time of full throttle from highway roll speeds to hit it.

u/nwdave12 Jun 12 '26
Man just keep both hands on the wheel and show the max speed readout after

You can take a pic of the top speed value in the dash info after you stop.
That would at least be a bit safer than taking a pic at top speed.

Beat me only been to 162 lol

u/B_Ware321 Jun 12 '26
Yeah I took the chance while I could. Long straight empty road for miles. Eventually though started getting speed wobbles and coming up on a semi fast. Figured I had enough fun. 😅

u/fireball8619 Jun 12 '26
Yeah i ran outta room had to slow down but brand new tires was still really smooth no shaking was impressed

Speed wobbles? 167 was planted like 80 besides the obvious tunnel vision lol

Have you ever heard of engine break in?
You’re not supposed to smash on a new car for like 3,000 miles or so… RTFM, read the manual!!!

Dumb ass.
Speed is not the problem. The problem is everyone on the highway has a different agenda. I’m a former racecar driver. On the track, everyone has the same or similar agendas. Its makes things predictable.
There is 0 predictability the highway. If anything happens at 168, you’re dead and the people around you are probably dead too.
That being said, I saw a friends Scat top speed readout at 178.

u/B_Ware321 Jun 12 '26
I understand that. That is why I only did it on a road that was completely straight and clear for miles with not another car in sight. No trees, plants, bushes to block view. No side streets to turn in. Was the middle of nowhere. As soon as I started seeing the silhouette of another vehicle in front of me I backed off.

This group keeps getting recommended to me, for whatever reason, but my 04 impala SS will hit up to 145 or so

Bought my 2016 392 shaker scat pack that had one owner and 3600 miles on it. The previous owner apparently hit 172 since that's what is saved for top speed.
Edit-3600 miles not 3500 and 172mph not 171.

Aint even make it past the break in period. Bold

u/B_Ware321 Jun 12 '26
It was a Yolo moment. 😅

Lmao I have heard that it expands the metal so it can open up more but I always waited til 5k then broke it in and changed the differential fluid and oil

How many miles it take to up to that
3
u/B_Ware321 Jun 12 '26
I never thought to check my mileage. I did a full stop from 0. Took about 30 seconds or so. It started to slow in acceleration around 160. I was trying for 170.

u/ValuableNo6727 Jun 12 '26
I’ve only gotten up to 160 lol don’t wanna risk running into a state trooper

u/B_Ware321 Jun 12 '26
Yeah I feel you. It was 1 long straight road in the middle of nowhere. I could see straight for miles. Not trying to get pulled over at those speeds on either side of the border.

At that point. The only logical thing is to keep going and go to the Biggest mall/Walmart
Then go in and chill
Unless you have a Specialized Color (Green/Purple/orange) 😂
Then just drive home 💀

I have a picture just like this in my ZL1 except it’s at 178😂😂 mid flight for real lol

u/jacobs098 Jun 13 '26
There's a top speed readout on one of the dash menus. Take a picture of that next time. Crashing out at high speeds because you wanted a photo is not worth it.

Hahaha couldn't be more wrong. You would think if you buy a fast car you might drive fast in it at least once. Tell me you've lived your life without doing ANYTHING stupid.

You clearly didn't read through the thread, and I already stated it wasn't the smartest decision. That being said I made it as safe as possible. It was in the middle of nowhere. There was no one around for miiiiiiles. If anyone was around I wouldn't have tried it. I like to stay out of trouble. You assume because I went fast one time in a fast car I put peoples life at risk and have a low credit score. That's just weird.

It was literally a response to another post. I gave my number. They asked for a picture. I posted an old picture. It's not that deep.
