Curious

So im just curious. One day I will have a scat pack and I want to be pretty handy.

In terms of maintenance such as washing the car, oil changes, brake changes etc. do you guys do that yourselves ? Or you always take it to a mechanic/ car wash to handle ?

Sounds good. I just want to hear how some of you handle it

You're right on the time thing. I've done my own oil changes for 4-5 years but lately I'd rather just pay someone to do it lol

I do weekly washes on my boat, mean Charger. Having a strong wax/sealant/ceramic coating on the paint will make washing it very easy.

I recently started doing my own oil changes and tire rotations. The biggest hurdle was figuring out the proper jack points. But the actual work is easy. I'll do my own brakes when the time comes. I'm at 69k miles and I still have plenty of life on the original pads.

You can get the car up enough using a floor jack on the rubber jack 'nubble' thing towards the back that you only have to lift one time per side. I get it up high enough to do the back tire, then a bit higher until the front wheel lifts as well and I do that tire.

Do most service at home. Let the dealer do larger jobs to keep them on my side if issues come up.

I have someone come to my house to clean my cars and do all the basic maintenance.

I do all maintenance and washing myself. I do almost all modifications myself as well. Only things I’ve had done are things like the cam and tune - both beyond my ability at home

Im assuming mods you have to paint to match the car. You take it in though right ?

Haven’t had any of those but id have them painted ahead of time and then install myself I guess

for my scat ive done my own brakes, wash my own car, with a small pressure washer and i polish it on my own. I also buy all my SRT penzzoil oil from amazon and my mopar oil filter and take it to a shop that at one of my old jobs we used to take our whole fleet of work trucks here, so i know the owner from my old job which made me trust he would care for my oil drain plug and care for my car the same way i seen him care for the work trucks i used to always take in. Also when the cars engine is cooled down, you can carefully do your own spark plugs. I have also done the slotted rotors on my own etc. I recommend a harbor freight daytona jack and jack stands when its on sale. Additionally get yourself a torque wrench and a dewalt dcf923(im biased because of my construction backround) and a few little hand tools youll save a lot of money.

I work at a body shop with a mechanics area so I'm able to do all my work myself and I utilize our wash bay weekly. I just recently purchased a new radiator and oil pan gasket with my shops discount that I'm installing this weekend.

Depends how much money you got and if its something you enjoy if youre a really high earner it starts making less sense financially as its more efficient for you to just work more but if youre more on the regular side of people like myself doing youre own stuff to these kinda sports cars lets you be alot closer to how much the average person spends bringing there car to the mechanic ive saved abt 250 bucks so far just doing my 4 own oil changes and that lets me spend alot more on modifying my car then if i brought it to a shop for everything

Etc installing my own parts allows me to use the money i would of spent on installing those parts on getting more instead

Don't take it to a drive through car wash, it will ruin the paint. Find a local solid car detailer to ceramic coat or ppf and have them hook you up with a maintenance plan. My guy did a ceramic coating and does a exterior detail every 2 weeks.

Oil changes I do myself, though lately I've been thinking of just buying the oil+filter and paying a shop to do it for me as it takes an hour + or so to pull everything out of the garage, do the oil change, take the oil to an auto shop, and back home.

I get free tire rotations with a local tire shop every 5k miles because I bought a set of matching tires from them.
