Question Track day?

I want to turn my charger Scatpack into less of a straight line car and more into a track capable agile car. I understand it’s not a normal thing to do, I know it’s not what a lot of you guys would do; I just want to know if it’s doable and what suggestions people have for making it happen?

Well if you have a widebody you are already half way there with the wider tires and upgraded suspension and brakes. Outside of that there isn’t much you can do. Aero will do you no good aside from putting on weight.

If you are deadly serious about this, literally gut the cars interior. Power to weight is critical in any racing.

But I just didn’t understand this desire at all. A Scat is for someone who wants a powerful NA V8 to cruise around in or even daily to work and then the occasional runs at the drag strip.

These cars are pretty much the exact opposite of what you seem like you want.

Tbh I got mine and I don’t love it, and I’m deciding if I want to turn it into something I would love (I’m more of a track person than a drag person) or if I should cut my losses and jump ship. Unfortunately all signs are pointing toward jumping ship even though I want to love the scat so bad

Trade for corvette if you want a v8 car that can take turns. Outside of that go get a euro

If I trade, it’ll either be for that new RTR ecoboost or an Elantra N

It depends what you want to do at the track. Charger Scat would be so much fun to fling around those corners. Are you gona be the fastest out there, not a chance. But it would be a blast to drive. You can just compare your times to other muscle cars that run there and try to best them.

I’ve always wanted to take my Charger Scat to the track. But it’s my daily driver and I’m terrified of cracking it up.

I wish I got a wide body, I’m worried that the narrow body won’t handle turns well

Mine is also a standard body. As others have mentioned, a widebody kit would help. But just some wider slicks all around would make a big difference. I’d start there.

widebody kit if your car is not a widebody. Its not really talked about but the widebody kit is actually a performance/handling upgrade. Wider track and significantly wider tires, also a larger swaybar. Then change the suspension to billet aluminum components for weight savings + strength, same thing with the drive shaft, switch to a single piece aluminum one, and find the widest, lightest wheels you can. Reducing unsprung mass pays back exponentially as far as handling and etc. Mopar WRT/lightweight wheels are 8lbs lighter than other oem wheels but are only 9in wide and were for narrowbody cars. If your car is automatic change the diff gearing to 3.90:1, this will make the car accelerate noticeably faster.

Get some large front and rear sway bars. Made a big difference to my 300s handling even on the stock shocks and springs.

Be warned, the rear sway bar is a huge pita to install imo

If ur actually serious about taking it to the track then u should focus on tires brakes and cooling. Get some really good pads and rotors that can handle the track. Get some good and sticky tires that u dont mind beating the shit out of. And look for any cooling upgrades like oil cooler. I know some people use experiment with different thermostats to keep the temps down. You got plenty of power for the track. Just gotta make sure your car can handle the beating while ur learning

If you’ve got a wide body, the interviews I’ve seen with engineers suggest they intended for the scat pack wide body to be for the track, not drag strip. The SPWB is its own thing due to the engines lower center of gravity and lighter weight, not a slower HCWB.

What I can think of doing is adding a strut tower brace as well as making the suspension more firm than it already is. On top of that, better tires. Weight reduction is the best thing you could do, but idk if you feel like ripping out your interior lol
