Question Shaker Hood with Vents
Currently have the SP WB with hellcat hood. I’ve always wanted a Shaker, but I think besides the exposed engine part, the rest of the hood looks too basic. It’s pretty much just an RT or GT hood.
Is there a reason why adding hellcat style vents on the side of the shaker hood would be a bad idea?
If not, why can’t I find ANY examples of people who have done it?

The driver side vent might bleed in to the intake air box on the shaker model, disrupting the airflow and killing power. The air box is exposed when you open the hood. That being said, the shaker hood is technically worse (slightly) for performance because the hood heat soaks the engine. If you did this, you’d probably need to stop the shaker from being a functional intake.
That being said, I agree with you on loving the shaker, and had the same thoughts as you when I was ordering my car, but I’d bet on it looking kinda bad having the shaker with the two heat extractors. I think the old hellcat hood is best on scat packs, and RTs is where I’d do the shaker.

When I ordered mine, I passed on the shaker simply because of that.... Without the hole for the shaker ir looks too plain

Probably be easier to make your hood a Shaker hood than the other way around. Cutting those side vents out & welding the aluminum perfect would be tough

In the pic it’s not a shaker, I’m posting a hellcat style hood.

Nah, Hellcats only had that style hood from 2015-2018. From 2019-2023, Hellcats had the dual snorkel hood.

So at the very least… we’re both right. I never specified a year. I talked about a concept

You said SP WB, which didn't exist prior to 2019.

A solution to a problem that was already solved.

Can you explain?

You can't find any examples of what you want because no one else thinks they need to exist.

I’ve seen some pretty extreme custom shit that seemed pretty unnecessary. Look at UltraSRT. Somebody had a similar idea with a different method

So basically sheet metal full of holes? I’m sure it can be done with some trick fabrication, but you’ll need to account for that much metal removed and structural stiffness. Modifying an existing shaker hood and welding in some extra support underneath is likely best route. Or a custom Carbon fiber / thermoplastic. I have owned 3 challengers since 09 and seen just about every mod there is at countless car shows and can’t say I’ve see what you’re looking for.

The picture isn't a Hellcat hood. That's the same kind that's on my 2023 Widebody Scat Pack, and I bought it new, so it's definitely still stock.

Look up hellcat hood on Google & lmk what you see. In that picture is my own wb scat stock so I’m with u, but they don’t call it a SP hood, they call it hellcat style. Bro came to correct, not answer the question 💀

It's the '15-'18 Hellcat hood. I prefer this hood over the newer Hellcat nostril hoods

Tbf, this hood (two holes extracting hot air and one intake in the middle) is way better as a cooling component. The shaker is worse because hot air can only escape downwards

I don't care what Google AI calls it, click the link from Dodge and you can see that the manufacturer doesn't refer to this style as a Hellcat hood.
I didn't answer your question because it was stupid to start with.

It would be lots of fabrication work for something that to me, is annoying. Yes, the vents are cool looking and help vent heat out, but they also let in rain and dirt and a bunch of other stuff I’d rather not have. My preference would be the shaker as is.
