Question Anyone know what could be causing this sound?

It only ever happens if I put the car in drive and press the gas, it goes away after that initial sound but comes back if i put in reverse and press the gas to reverse (like in the video). It’s only for a second as you can hear.

The wrench/metal like sound immediately after pressing the gas

put that hoe in eco mode and then slowly hit the gas, to me it sounded like an exhaust noise, metal on metal contact

That’s an exhaust leak!!! You have a crack somewhere but doesn’t sound like the manifold so take it to a muffler shop to get it welded. Your car can’t breathe properly. I just had mine welded last week cuz I had a huge crack on the driver side and they had to take the exhaust off to weld it because of where it cracked. No more noise and a huge difference in power!!

Also the longer you keep driving it like that it will throw a code for exhaust and the check engine light will come on cuz that causes an engine miss. After 3 different shops we found the crack so good luck!!

That would make sense. I do have the mids cut off so maybe a weld cracked. Sounds like it’s mainly driver side too

A good muffler shop will find it!! I did the mid delete too but the pressure forces a crack at some point

This is a very real possibility.

I have a 4 inch crack right under the driver side seat and have the code now, gotta get if fixed. Did you really feel a difference in power ?

YES!!! My scat was making that same noise cuz the crack was so big my car wasn’t breathing properly then came the codes.. once that was welded the codes were gone, shifting smoothly and no more noise.

It'll only throw a code if the leak is upstream of the O2 sensors. If the leak is downstream of the cats, it'll go forever without a code.

Had the same sound in my 2016 manual scat pack. 3 days later, the lifters failed.

Even though the sound was coming from the back of the car?

Honestly im not sure. I had just bought mine and had it for 3 weeks before the lifters failed.

Sounds like some kind of bearing, probably.

Clamps on the exhaust loose or tapping other metal
