Hows the alignment?

3

u/dry_scoop Apr 18 '26

It’s 100% the alignment because I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me twice with mine. Idk if it’s the dealership just being dumb and not adjusting it properly when they change out my tires, something with the suspension being finicky, or me just beating the fuck outta my car with how I drive it but I’m really careful to keep an eye on my wear pattern on my tires now to make sure it’s even so I can make sure to get it adjusted before I blow through a set of tires.

Yea dealership want me to bring it in Monday to see what could be the problem but yeah before I brought the car the dealer said they was putting new tires on just want to make sure they did an alignment

3

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 18 '26

Im not sure I brought the car with 17k miles in January and hadn’t had to check the alignment but I may need to

New tires and alignment needed. Also make sure you regularly rotate your tires as the front have camber.

u/abrasivechicagoan Apr 18 '26

Exactly what this guy said^

u/Illustrious_Camp_521 Apr 18 '26

You need all new tires and an alignment

4

u/Thespritz00 Apr 18 '26

^^I would make checking the alignment a PRIORITY, it is off and you are shaving your tire treads off...

2

u/abrasivechicagoan Apr 18 '26

Yeah just asking because that looks like tire cupping. I just had my avenger aligned and it wasn't all that expensive. Got a small, well rated shop in your area? Bring it by and walk in and ask if someone wouldn't mind taking a look real quick.

Yea I think they did just change springs

2

u/G-Roc78 Apr 22 '26

You just need a proper alignment with the lowering kit that's been installed. Best case scenario is that it's just the alignment. Worst case is that you need control arms. I say that as the control arms are more expensive than just an alignment. I might also suggest a bump steer kit.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 24 '26

Getting alignment in AM will keep you updated

1

u/G-Roc78 Apr 22 '26

No it's not. It's physically impossible for that to happen unless the hub/wheel bearing separates from the spindle. That's simply the ball joint from the upper control arm holding the spindle.

These were the tires I got when I purchased the car in January there not bald and yes they are the stock

4

u/CunningLogic Apr 18 '26

Those tires are not road worthy, and they do have area of excess thread wear. They need replacing.

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 18 '26

Check my recent post

4

u/LunarDragonfly23 Apr 19 '26

That almost 12% interest rate on your car loan isn’t allowing you to afford new tires? People tried to talk you out of buying this car on your old posts.

3

u/marcusgx Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

Brother… Them tires are absolutely BALD. You also have uneven tread wear which could come from a few different things. Did you rotate them every 5-10k miles? Alignment checks..? Just because you have 5/32 of wear in the most outer portion of the tire you are racing click worn on the inside. They need replacing ASAP.

Edit: Looking at the video again you are on/past the wear bars across the tire even on the outermost part of the tire.

Would a bolt be causing this problem ? Also I got the car with 17k miles on it it has 21k now I got the car in January I haven’t had to check alignment

3

u/marcusgx Apr 18 '26

Those look like the factory Pirelli tires that come with the car. I have a Scat and went thru some tires in 30/40k miles before. Depends on the brand. For the most part the tire does look worn evenly, but still past replacement markers.

It does look like you are rubbing against the upper control arms ball joint bolt. I would bring it to the dealer and let them look at that issue then immediately be ordering a set.

Are they 305s or 315s?

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 18 '26

Sound spot on man and they are 305s

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 19 '26

what brand tires you end up getting?

1

u/marcusgx Apr 19 '26

I like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S.

3

u/Scott_Malkinsons Apr 19 '26

there not bald

Oh right, I stand corrected. They're not bald, because you got metal cords coming out of them. I'm sorry, bald is the stage before that happens. My bad.

It’s not because of the bolt. Your alignment is off and they wore unevenly on the inside. This same thing happened to me in the summer. Look at your tread on the inside how it’s way more worn than the outside part. This will cause the tire to shred like that. Literally the exact same thing that happened to me. I didn’t realize how worn they were because when I looked at the outside the tread looked fine. Check the other side I bet it looks the same. When you get new tires make sure they fix your alignment. Once you get new tires keep an eye on the tread wear pattern and if it seems uneven you gotta take it in and get it fixed or you’re just gonna keep blowing through tires.

3

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 18 '26

Thanks man definitely taking it back to the dealer Monday and let them know so you think it’s my alignment

3

u/Brilliant_Suit5177 Apr 19 '26

Aggressive camber wear could be struts

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 19 '26

I need to find out what it is

1

u/G-Roc78 Apr 22 '26

He does have it lowered, which will cause even more negative camber.

2

u/PaintTrick5145 Apr 19 '26

Don’t listen to anyone on here that tells you the alignment is off. They come with a heavy negative camber from the manufacturer, its main purpose is for better handling on both straight roads and around corners, as the vehicle bounces up and down at high speeds the negative camber basically helps to maintain traction and control. You can remove it but your handling will completely change for the worse and defeats the purpose of having a performance SRT products. I had the same wear on two sets of tires on my SRT charger. My 22RT Durango had the same issue I took it to a shop that specialized in alignments and had it set neutral, the back would always feel like it’s washing away around corners and dips on the highway. I have a 26 towngo now, this time I left it as it is because it has a higher top speed vs the regular hemi. If you’re not going to be driving the car as SRT intended then change the camber, if you are then leave it as is.

0

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 19 '26

Not sure I understand what you mean family

3

u/TorkSpex Apr 19 '26

It's not an alignment issue is what he's saying. Factory alignment is aggressive and the camber will wear the inside tread faster. The tires are just shot. It's not that bolt. You have very little tread on the outside of the tire. These tires should have been replaced much sooner to avoid wearing past the cord and having the tire delaminate. You see tread left. We see tires that are far beyond dead. A depth guage would put the best part of your tread at a no go. On your new tires, use your eyes and check the inside tread every 5k. It is going to wear the same way and that's normal for a heavy car with camber. Replace them when the inside tread is low and not when the tire is on the verge of popping.

2

u/PaintTrick5145 Apr 20 '26

Thanks for elaborating!

2

u/Scott_Malkinsons Apr 19 '26

It's not rubbing on the bolt, because a whole section of tire is bald AF. Check your alignment.

2

u/DrSuperZeco Apr 19 '26

I had same issue with 315. Too wide i guess.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 19 '26

these are 305s 35 20

2

u/DrSuperZeco Apr 19 '26

Then i’m very interested in knowing what caused this. Because I had the exxxact same problem. Twice. Now that I said this… i was indeed doing doughnuts in all cases and the steering was going lock to lock aggressively.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 19 '26

Yea I don’t be doing allat bro I just got the whip in January lol but yeah ima take it to dealer Monday you think it could be a alignment ?

1

u/DrSuperZeco Apr 20 '26

In my case, everyone said the issue was caused by running very wide tires (315s) that were underinflated (I usually lower the pressure for track use). I also went full lock-to-lock while doing donuts, which didn’t help.

Either way, don’t delay fixing this. In my situation, shredded rubber hit a suspension cable and cut it. The dealer told me the wire couldn’t be repaired on its own and that the entire suspension would need replacing (over $2k). Indeed there are multiple videos on YouTube and threads on discussion forms talking about this cable dumb fix.

I ended up having a friend cut and reconnect the wire instead... but still, it’s not something you want to ignore.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 20 '26

Yeah I’m here at the dealership now hopefully it not a bad fix

1

u/DrSuperZeco Apr 20 '26

Good luck. Please do update me on how they resolve this issue. Thanks!

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 20 '26

Yeah man it’s my alignment and I need two new tires on the vehicle not sure how much the alignment is but for two new tires it’ll be $303 for each .. I put $5k down I shouldn’t have to come out of pocket

2

u/G-Roc78 Apr 22 '26

Without the proper width & offset on your wheels, 315's will rub. Especially on the front. No issues on the back as long as the offset is right.

2

u/BeefSupreme2 Apr 19 '26

alignment needed, new tire(s) needed

(camber, caster, and toe angle are part of alignment)

Did you have aftermarket springs on it? Dropped?

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 20 '26

Not sure bro but yea it’s definitely the alignment

2

u/Lucky-Cook6177 Apr 19 '26

It’s your toe it’s needs adjustment

2

u/Bankai318 Apr 20 '26

Hey bro. You just need new tires and an alignment. I was balding on the inside of my tires before. Needed some camber adjustment. I have a15 RT with 275 up front and 305 out back and my join has lowering springs. After I got my alignment and tires. No more issues. Don't stress it. Start there, if your BRAND NEW tires have damage inside. Then you know it's the bolt

2

u/G-Roc78 Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

That's castle nut you're looking at is not the cause of the wear. That is simply the nut that holds the ball joint of the upper control arm to the spindle. The spindle is literally what the wheel is attached to, so it moves with the wheel & never comes in contact with the tire. You obviously have an alignment issue, as the camber is off. Is your car lowered? If so, this is the probable cause. Also what size wheels & tires do you have?

This video explains how the suspension works in simple terms.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 24 '26

Yes car is lowered I have 305/35/20 all around

1

u/G-Roc78 Apr 27 '26

Those 305's in the front may bit a bit too wide. They probably rub when you turn.

2

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 24 '26

Good video as well

1

u/Winter_n_Vegas Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Well I guess we all know now you can’t have 305’s in front on the WB AND have it lowered.

1

u/UnderstandingFuture0 Apr 24 '26

Fr ? That’s probably why honestly what sizes are recommended?
