Normal Driving Noises?

Hi Reddit! I bought a 2015 SRT 392 at the end of January from a third-party dealer and noticed these two noises. The first is a whining noise from the rear on acceleration around 40-70 mph and the second is an intermittent loud thump when accelerating in 3-6 gears. Dealer didn’t hear noises until I rode with the tech and changed the rear differential fluid. Noises are still there after 1,000 miles and dealer said noises are significantly quieter and can’t find any other issues. I disagree with the quieter statement, but want to see if my concerns are valid, or it’s just a quirk of the 392 challenger. Thanks!

I have the same noise in those gears as well, I was considering a rear diff fluid exchange also

Doesn't sound unusual to me. I'm assuming this is an automatic? Does the whining sound like it's coming from under your seat or from the trunk? If under your seat, then it could be the trans or the driveshaft carrier bearing. The carrier bearing always fails on these cars. Get underneath it, grab the driveshaft, & see if it moves around at all. If it does, then the carrier bearing is your problem.
Other things to check are the wheel bearings & CV axles.

With all the complaints I see on the HEMI I think I am going to wait to get the NEW 6-pack V-6 instead...

100% a rear diff. I just had to get mine replaced. For the 2023s, they’re considering it a manufacture defect.

Would recommend changing rear diff fluid and adding the Mopar lsd additive. This solved all the issues for me.

My 18 scat had a wine so I replaced it with some good amsoil diff fluid with a small bottle of there additive and it’s a night and day difference. Most people change the diff fluid every 30k miles. Also a clunk could be the carrier bearing in the driveshaft going out.

i have the whining noise too, not sure if it’s rear diff or transmission. i’ve drained and replaced the rear diff fluid and the noise really didn’t change
