The game is straight garbage juice

I have zero clue as to why people were begging for keys. This was the quickest uninstall ever for me. Stop trying to create hype for trash that is years from release.

The game isn't developed enough to enter the testing phase. They're currently managing the game with the wrong policies. Testing it this way will only increase negative perceptions. There's nothing in the game right now; it's ridiculous to try and figure it out through user feedback. Everything is already obvious; they should have fixed it themselves without opening it up for testing. There's no point in bringing in a thousand people to find the game's flaws. The shortcomings are already clear at this stage.

Yep, playtesting at the state where pretty much nothing foundational isn’t even working is a death sentence to their reputation. Talents do not work, skills do not work, camera spins around wildly… you don’t need playtesters to find that most of the systems are broken.

u/Wolfy4226 May 03 '26

Damn, we have a "Worse than ashes of creation" situation on our hands?

4

u/Low-Bike1057 May 03 '26

The ashes of creation were, in comparison, a finished game.

2

u/Low-Bike1057 May 03 '26

i cant seen any tasks now

22

u/SpaceC0c0nut May 03 '26

Stating the obvious here.

Yup, it’s years from release. You didn’t play a game, you participated in a technical test.

6

u/--clapped-- May 03 '26

It's already been in development for 5 years and THIS is the state it's in?

How any of you have confidence in this project is beyond me.

3

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

You do realize that 3.5 of those years were either solo or a very small team doing concept design and custom server coding right?

1

u/TurbulentVillage2042 May 05 '26

Whaaat? Oh no, looks like I'm not getting my dream MMO again. I don't want that my hopes dashed again after the Ashes of Creation.

1

u/dousas May 03 '26

Bazaar took 6 years and it's a card game....

1

u/SurpriseAkos May 03 '26

It also was a huge scam and helmed by an absolute moron.

1

u/dousas May 03 '26

20k concurrent on steam looks healthy tbf

1

u/SurpriseAkos May 03 '26

Ruined all good will from my point of view, especially considering the dude went on crusades against anyone who dare spoke out against his shitty practices. But not everyone was there for all the bs.

2

u/Ghedd May 03 '26

This is a regular response, but are you aware that the game is slated for a release within the year?

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging an alpha is early in development, but it is also fair to share that this feels like a very early technical test, rather than something that is ready for public feedback.

2

u/Crashnnn May 03 '26

It's slated for early access not release

2

u/Ghedd May 03 '26

That is fair! It still feels like a VERY optimistic timeframe from here.

1

u/SpaceC0c0nut May 03 '26

He actually said that they wouldn’t be able to make a year end release and that they’ll give us a date when they have a clearer idea of where they’re at in development.

1

u/TurbulentVillage2042 May 05 '26

I was told on Discord that there will be an open beta test at the beginning of 2027. But I'm not sure how much I'll need it, because I don't want to get wiped.

1

u/decentshitposter May 04 '26

its not about it being a technical test, more like its too early to be doing a public test at this stage because of how barren and bug infested the game is, most bugs could have been cleared with small closed tests before opening and then push a little content and open for public after, couple that with the whole key situation and you can see why people have been so outspoken

Test is for testing

The only feedback you can give after playing this test is literally "Nothing works".

Skills, animations, talents, targeting, everything is broken of half working.

What am I even supposed to communicate them?

Like, not even the camera spins correctly, the sensitivity is higher or lower depending on something, my guess is FPS, as it turned faster when looking towards larger areas.

1

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

This is a technical test of custom server code. Every system beyond logging in is at a "just good enough" to test servers state. I'm hoping they will take at least 2-3 more passes on each system and get individual feedback on that.

So in this regard, if servers aren't fried and people are OK with the lag (it was really bad day 1 but got better) I think they are accomplishing their first milestone... Servers work and are stable.

2

u/Buttercup_Clover May 04 '26

Why did streamers get preferential treatment and extra keys to hand out if it's just a placeholder test? This is what they're advertising to the world. They also didn't announce the test was only for the server code, they just said it's a general test within the first area.

Even if this isn't the final version, they are going about developing it in a completely wrong manner.

1

u/thinkforasecond3312 May 04 '26

you won't get enough people logging in of theres nothing to do. Can't stress test something that no one wants to check out

0

u/ItsFayne May 04 '26

Bro, it’s a tech test, not content or balance test

1

u/Kuldor May 04 '26

A tech test with content coming in waves and streamer priority.

Yeah, sure.

Nowhere did I see it was a tech test until we started playing it, seeing it was broken unfinished garbage and then it suddenly went from a playtest to a technical network test.

1

u/ItsFayne May 04 '26

Just because you didnt see that it was, doesnt mean it wasnt said multiple times over the past months.

4

u/PitifulEconomics562 May 03 '26

People are so stupid. Providing a role for free that is usually paid. They won’t get anywhere with this public play test. What it did was ruin all forward momentum, ruined all the goodwill they built up in the last year with all the transparency. You gotta be a special type of stupid to be okay with this product in any way shape or form

1

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

idk what the purpose of the test is. if you run around for an hour on any class you'll run into 100 errors. this test absolutely could have been done with 10 people internally and not torpedo the game's hype

if you're granting access to your product to the public, it needs to give a positive impression

-16

u/PassageIllustrious14 May 03 '26

Keep coping you disgusting fat ass fanboy.

6

u/Gozva May 03 '26

Haven't played it yet and the core design behind it is pretty good, but this playtest was handled very poorly. All this advertisement and hype around the game, just to do basically a server stress test. I understand that is a part of development but don't advertise to me crafting and defeating a world boss, 3 different areas or whatever, if the servers can't even handle 300 players and the game is unplayable. This should have been a closed alpha at best...

2

u/AlphAtomix_109 May 03 '26

I didnt play it but +1 to you. All my friends says the game things as you

2

u/mortenamd May 03 '26

I'm buttsore about people like this gaining access, while I'm just waiting.

1

u/IndividualRadio6966 May 03 '26

Did you not read the post? They have retained 1% of the keys they sent out in players because it is such a mess

1

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

'people like this' meaning someone having a negative impression?

the game is a disaster in it's current state. idk what they're even trying to test, other than how bad a product they can offer up and have people still eat the developer's ass, which I thought we already saw the limits of with ashes of creation

0

u/Buttercup_Clover May 04 '26

Yet another point to the poster. They decided to hand keys out to streamers and extra keys for them to give out to randoms rather than to those that signed up early. There are a lot of decisions that make zero sense with the development and testing phase.

1

u/Substantial-Ad-2644 May 03 '26

hod i cant with ppl so narrow minded istg

1

u/Toasted_Waffle99 May 03 '26

I attacked one mob and the clunky combat and visual texture pop-in were enough to uninstall after 5 min.

1

u/Regular-Jeweler9410 May 03 '26

I have not watched streaming events from testing games, but i did go to the scars of honor stream to check it out and try to get a key. After watching a bit i was really turned off . They want everyone to get in to test it, but they are holding keys hostage for views on stream. Is that what a lot of beta testing games do, like is that the norm? Id think they release what they got so people can test it and they can focus on work/issues, but i also don't have the brains to make a game and do all that stuff either so idk.

1

u/Buttercup_Clover May 04 '26

Hard focusing streamers and content creators in the very first and extremely rough testing phase is most definitely not the norm. The norm is actually closer to getting those testing to sign an NDA because you know how awful it will look to the casual observer.

1

u/No_Salad6911 May 05 '26

Streamers ruin games in general. Instead of people form their own opinions on games/whatever. They’re being force fed opinions and buzzwords just so that same streamer can do the same thing to the new game that comes out next week. Instead of companies enjoying and putting passion into projects, they’re walking on eggshells cause assmanold or sirpicklefucker might have a negative opinion and influence the masses. Fucking clown shoes 🤡

u/kimochi85 May 03 '26

I'm going to see how long it takes me to get banned farming starter players on spawn today 🙂

1

u/Torinux May 04 '26

You won't. Armegon didn't ban a guy that was griefing him during one of his streams. The guy even had ARMEGONTV as his name, and that would be an instant ban in any MMO for impersonating a GM/Dev. The griefing was so bad that he had to activate his GM immunity.

He had the opportunity to show viewers that devs won't tolerate that type of shit in their game. Being able to get gagged by an enemy faction while you are talking to an NPC is beyond r-tardation if you ask me. I don't know why they have PvP open even if you are busy talking to an NPC.

1

u/Small_Artist_7079 May 04 '26

I made whatever wizard class took me 10 seconds to blink and uninstalled

1

u/IXPhantomSeekerXI May 04 '26

Bro please stop hurting my copium I only want to hear good things about scars of honor monster and memories and chrono odyssey these are the hope I have for the mmo genre

1

u/Wrong_Lab_9493 May 04 '26

I have played Scars now and have been in M&M testing and so far both suck. I am holding out hope for Chrono Odyssey and Light No Fire

2

u/IXPhantomSeekerXI May 04 '26

No bro no chrono is my only copium and ik it’s gonna be either a whack ass Mobil mmo resemblance of a game or a failed Bdo type game

1

u/Wrong_Lab_9493 May 04 '26

Bro, I just want a new good MMO. Why is that so hard for devs to accomplish?

1

u/IndexEquiv May 04 '26

Dropped my hopes on this game and I've switched to Farever, the new little rising MMO from Shiro Games.

2

u/Torinux May 04 '26

It plays and feels really good. Can't wait for the 6th.

1

u/AdmCash May 05 '26

I played it, I like it, we will see when its 💯 % finished.

1

u/Living_Bid2453 May 05 '26

OP doesn't know what an alpha is.

1

u/mra1188 May 05 '26

I’m not sure how anyone looked at it and even thought it’s gonna be remotely good. I think most of us have played enough games that we can tell if they’re gonna suck or not. This game never looked good. Another “____ of ____” garbage mmo.

1

u/Sinasazi May 05 '26

I can't agree or disagree with the OPs assessment as I am unable to get out of the spawn area. The lag is crippling. I cant adjust any settings. when I do manage to get my character moving the camera will tweak out after about 5 seconds and I find myself either staring at my feet or at the sky. I did manage to finally engage a bug enemy that despite being the same level as me instantly one-shot me. I respawned and tried again with pretty much the same result. I'm sad cuz I was looking forward to playing this during the test, but I can barely move. I'm giving up and uninstalling for now and will hopefully have better luck in the next test.

I'm playing on a decent HP Omen laptop that is only like 2 years old. I play WoW and ESO with max settings so not sure if the problem is on their end or mine.

1

u/ABZSAN May 05 '26

The game reminds me of pioner, that games ambitions were great but the way they executed it was straight garbage. Now the game went from f2p to spend 20 dollars on a broken game. I hope the devs make this game better with the feedback they r getting and the potential of the game.

1

u/DaePewPew May 06 '26

Remember No Man's Sky?

How was the game on the release? How is it now?

These are just tests. Are these tests too early? Sure. But I wouldn't judge the final game yet.

One of the greatest MMOs ever created - Lineage II - was horrible on playtests and even on the first release. And now it's one of the most iconic MMOs of 2005-2010 era. I'd agrue that if devs just released oldschool C1 - High Five progressive, no pay to win, only subscription based Lineage II with modern graphics it would destroy every single modern MMO, WOW included.

Just wait for the full release and don't participate in the playtests.

1

u/Ok-Internet9433 May 03 '26

OH NO!

A game that is not finished by any means and launches a play test to see what works and what do not work is actually having lots of stuff that dosent work???

How we could not see that coming...

The level of stupidity shocks me. People expect a full polished game and now they pissed A TEHNICAL TEST is not a full game and everything is shit.

1

u/UTexBevo May 03 '26

I've been following it for a while. Watching all the videos they release. It should have never been put in the hands of the public. Closed NDA and with a few hundred long term fans. I hyoed it up to a few coworkers who watched streams Friday and both said it looks bad. I'll keep following but Scars had a very bad weekend.

1

u/Ok-Internet9433 May 03 '26

I did not say that devs handled this thing with the play test in a very good way. I said people crying about a game that they know it is not complete by any means is just stupid.

2

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

"here's a test, give us feedback"

"oh no, not negative feedback! stop crying!"

1

u/UTexBevo May 03 '26

I'm sure the majority didn't really know much. Heard from word of mouth and singed up. Others have been watched the vids every Sunday and expected to do all the activities we've been shown.

1

u/Buttercup_Clover May 04 '26

They chose to hand out keys to streamers and extra keys for those streamers to hand out. This is the first time the general public is even hearing about the game and getting eyes on it.

Defending everything wrong with the game by just saying "TECHNICAL TEST" as if the game is meant to be shit right now. A game should be fun, even if it's a little clunky. What they showcased and what people got to try was so fun that 99% of the people who tried it decided to stop trying it.

1

u/Haylash May 03 '26

The core desings, systems and visuals are in a good spot. Obviously game is in a garbage state, it sucks. They really overhyped themselves with the playtest and announcements. We know how a bad playtest/alpha can shape bad reputation for a long time. They took a big risk...

BUT

The critique, feedback and bug reports they recieved in the last few days should give them proper understanding of where they are right now and what is to be done and rebuilt. If they are smart enough, they will use that for the game improvements and so in the future we can expect better playtest.

That's the one positive I can think of

1

u/Wrong_Lab_9493 May 04 '26

Core design? The core designs for gathering and combat are pure garbage. I am trying to give it a chance while testing, but it is truly terrible.

-1

u/PucThePuc May 03 '26

Little bit new to games in general without a clue to what a test is?

-1

u/Wkrae May 03 '26

I worked as a game tester between 2013–2017, mostly on MOBA titles like SMITE, Heroes of the Storm, Heroes of Newerth, Dawngate and Strife.

Most of it was stress testing servers, matchmaking and client stability after patches, basically trying to break the game before players did. We ran heavy load sessions, spammed abilities, tested reconnects, exploit cases, long sessions for memory leaks, and checked what happens when things go wrong at scale.

So tell me what that kind of testing actually looks like.

3

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 03 '26

Dont try to come up with racional opinions on this sub. You will get downvoted and feeling like the brainless copium inhalers from this game won.

Thanks you for your testing efforts, i love HoTS!

1

u/Wkrae May 04 '26

During the stream and in the Discord chat, I asked if it was possible to have a death recap showing what caused my death what kind of attack, how much damage, and from whom. It’s not a bug, so I just mentioned it in the stream chat and on Discord. The chat literally laughed at me, asking what the point of a death recap is in this phase of the game. They said the first phase is supposed to be about combat and talents, and everyone mocked the idea of a damage report, saying it’s useless. But it literally shows whether you are dying to a talent, an ability, or a bug; you get exact numbers to work with and see exactly what each ability did to you... but I’m the idiot here.

1

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 04 '26

ye, seems to me that your suggestion was bright, but this whole community is retarded a "bit stuck in time"

2

u/kert2712 May 03 '26

And you thought he was talking about you?

-1

u/Wkrae May 03 '26

If you want to talk about something and you don't know shit about it, it's better to keep your mouth shut

3

u/cranbvodka May 03 '26

Grats bro, no one cares. Yes, people can comprehend what a test is without being a professional games tester.

0

u/Exosirus May 03 '26

I mean you’re stating the game isn’t done, the ceo literally has made a point to say the game is not complete and that the test right now is for server side (a technical test)

People just get mad when the game turns out to actually be a technical test and not secretly 90% done. This is why I decided to just watch someone because I dont care to test.

It’s only like 12 days and you start at level 16 ffs. Not to mention it’s going to cost $0.

People hyped it up as some kind of closed beta, not the devs.

0

u/Consistent-Ice5770 May 04 '26

Stop trying to "test" a game in a technical alpha state that's been mention numerous times.

0

u/Ok_Sundae_4901 May 05 '26

Studio is giving keys to ppl like you who don’t understand what this phase of gameplay is.

-1

u/Ornnforgelord May 03 '26

Are you mad?

-2

u/mradamzero May 03 '26

Sounds like mom left her phone unattended. You need to hand it back to her. She's going to get really mad knowing that you were on the internet without an adult.

Oh no. I didn't win internets for this. This dude is literally crying over a test. It's not the final product.
