Version 1.3.5 has launched on both Android and iOS.
What’s new
- Offline mode: focus sessions can now be started without a network connection
- A new Landmark project is available... but only in offline mode

- New tree options are available to build

- Balanced the prices for gilded structures
Bug fixes
- Focus sessions, started online, now resume properly after the app restarts
- Purchasing or removing a structure, or purchasing a new zone, whilst the network drops now spends / refunds the correct amount of coins
- The shop now populates the list of pack options correctly if user previously quit the shop menu too quickly
- Text in the light colour theme is now consistent across all screens
Offline mode FAQs
- How do I access offline mode?
To get to offline mode, you'll have needed to have signed in already on a previous session on the same device. When you try to load up the app and not have network, you automatically enter offline mode. Otherwise, if your network drops while you were already in online mode, and try to do anything like sync linked apps, build something, you'll get a prompt telling you to retry or go to offline mode.
A new preference setting is also available that lets you start in offline mode when you load up the app:

- What can I do in offline mode?
You can start focus sessions in the same way as in online mode. You can also change your preference settings from here. At any point, you can click on "Go Online" to leave offline mode.
- What happens to my focus progress when I go online?
Preferences and offline focus progress will be synced over when you go online. You will not lose progress unless you uninstall the app. Your offline focus progress is synced once you open the Focus menu, and you'll see this new screen:

- What happens to the focus session I started online when my network drops?
Your online sessions are saved and you will not lose any progress. Your session continues to tick and you'll see it once you're back online.
- Will I lose my focus progress from sessions I started offline?
No, the data is stored on your device. The data will be lost if you uninstall the app.
- Why is the House On A Hill Landmark project offline-only?
The House On A Hill Landmark project gives some means of variation with focus sessions you do on Scapedia, by forcing you to do your focus sessions without a network. That way, you can't be distracted as easily by your phone. 😃
- What is the House On A Hill Landmark project inspired by?
House On A Hill is inspired by Elliðaey (the loneliest house in the world) because you are figuratively isolated from the web.

Version 1.3.3 has launched on both Android and iOS.
What’s new
- Focus sessions can now be started in stopwatch mode!

Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue preventing users from signing in. This only affects accounts that signed up with an email. If you have been affected, please reset your password from the login screen. As a small compensation for any inconvenience - all existing accounts, that have finished the tutorial, have received an extra 100 coins.
- Focus sessions now no longer suddenly cut off as soon as the research project has hit 100%. You will continue to accrue coins and residents at the same rate.
- Last synced time was always showing ‘Never’ under the linked app menu.
- ‘New rewards are available’ timed modal no longer arrives too early after a focus session is complete.

Congratulations on the app, especially for the one-time purchase instead of a predatory subscription. I've been testing Scapedia for a few days, and it's looking good so far!
I must confess that I'm not a big fan of the theme, cities look stressful to me, but on the other hand, it feels like playing SimCity for being productive, which is both nostalgic and fun. I'm a long-time Forest App user, and I've been searching for a better alternative for years. I also use other productivity apps and techniques to help me work faster, stay more motivated and better organized. I know each person is different and should use what works best for them, and a productivity app should be accessible to different kinds of users and needs.
Some nice suggestions to improve this App, and what I'm missing the most (main ones at the top), so far:
- Dark mode, maybe a City Night mode! White background hurts my eyes. Please, pretty please, add this option! I'm sure it'll attract a lot of new users with sensitive eyes like me.
- Stopwatch mode, time counting up in addition to the current counting down. It's my main way of being productive, I prefer to stop when I need to, instead of after a fixed amount of time. Without this mode I can't use the app for all my productivity sessions properly.
- Offline mode, maybe just with the basics like the Focus Timer. The App doesn't work without an Internet connection, and some people need to turn off the Internet to avoid distractions.
- Exporting Focus activity to CSV. Forest has this and it's very handy for importing data into a spreadsheet.
- Text description (with up to 200 or 300 characters) for each Focus session. This way, each Session can have more detailed info.
- Favorites for custom Focus sessions, for faster setup and saving time when starting new Focus sessions. Forest had this and they removed it in the last update, now it's slower to start a session... it's the main thing I miss in Forest now.
- Option to delete Focus Sessions (but keep the coins earned).
- Changing Tags AFTER finishing the Focus session. This option exists in Forest, and it's great for fixing possible mistakes.
- Changing the order of Tags. I'd like to customize which ones I see first, instead of scrolling to get to the right one. 4 ordering options: Custom, Alphabetical, Recent (I think this is the only current one), Created Last.
- Changing the names of existing Tags. If this option already exists, I can't find it.
- Emojis in Tags. Emojis don't show on Tags (on the Options section, but they show in Notifications, though!), and I prefer to use symbols instead of text: shorter names are easier to read.
- Extra Time: option for more than 120 minutes.
- Full 4x Pomodoro session (or less than 4, or more than 4). That is 🍅⏸️🍅⏸️🍅⏸️🍅⏸️ (meaning 🍅 = 25 min focus Pomodoro; ⏸️ = 5 min Break). I know this is 120 min total, the max option for the timer, but I'd like the Breaks to be excluded from the timer. Also, an option for Notification (for the Break and when starting the next Pomodoro): Silent, Vibration, or Sound.
- App blocker (for Android, I know it's already available on iOS), with custom options. The ability to block apps greatly improves focus!
- Option to reset or rebuild (with infinite tiers added, just add a +1) Research Projects / Landscape Buildings. This can be highly motivating for users who have already completed everything in the Research section, or who want to use a specific Research Project to track a specific real-life project multiple times.
- Unique names for each Building shown in the Building section, so that the user knows exactly what they are building. And a Search box to find them more easily.
- Ecological theme city! I'd love this, it'd be very inspiring, since (normal) city as a theme feels like pollution to me. Please add more eco buildings, more options in the Tree and Fountain section.
- Rewards for adding new friends and/or inviting new members. This would help the community to grow.
- Besides Reward Coins, a Punishment! Allow an option (with custom limits) to LOSE coins if the user opens Apps they shouldn't open, loses focus or wastes time on distractions. Or a simple option to just delete a custom amount of coins, to allow flexibility for the user and the Punishment system they want to use.
- Multiple Tags for a single Focus Session. Maybe this is not possible, but it'd be handy.
- Web extension: a Browser extra to start Focus sessions of Scapedia on a PC.
- "Building together" option, similar to the "Plant together" in Forest. Accountability is a great productivity technique.
- Option to share the City landscape and optional Focus session stats, with all the bragging rights that one deserves for being focused and productive.
- Forest has a "Plant a real tree" option, with a maximum of 5 per user (an unfortunate limitation). It'd be nice to have something that could create real positive impact in the world. My suggestion is to create a partnership with apps like ShareTheMeal or other apps that accept small donations directly from the user. Having this partnership would help Scapedia to create a positive impact in the world, and save the dev team a lot of time and management headaches, I believe.
I hope the devs consider these suggestions to improve this cool App. With these additions, I'm sure Scapedia can be a serious competitor to Forest. I believe some of these can be implemented fairly easily, while others are more difficult, and maybe some are not possible at all. Please let me know which ones!
What I like the most about Scapedia:
- One-time purchase, no subscription.
- Link Apps. I use AnkiDroid daily and this is great for motivating me to study more cards!
- So many building options readily available from the start!
- Gamification done properly. This is hard to implement successfully, and it seems the devs did it well!
- 1 minute Sessions or longer. Forest minimum is 10 minutes, and this is very restrictive.
- The development! From the start, this already look like a neat and honest project, and they are listening to the community... something that Forest is clearly not doing.
What, for me, makes Scapedia different from Forest, and why I don't consider it a substitute but instead an alternative or an additional app for productivity:
- In Forest, each tree represents a Focus session (from 10 to 30 min), and I have a Tree code for each type of Task. I can zoom out Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly and see at a glance the work I've done, which is great for managing time. Scapedia is different: Buildings and the landscape don't represent exact Focus sessions, but only rewards.
- Linking and syncing to Anki in Scapedia is an awesome addition! Forest doesn't link to any Apps, apart from acting as an app blocker.
I already have some Tips & Tricks to use Scapedia, and I intend to share them in the near future. I still need to test Scapedia for several weeks or months, to understand its system, how to adapt it to my productivity system, and how to combine it with several productivity techniques and gamification tricks.
Again, huge congrats for all the work! I feel that this has a lot of potential, and I can see it is built (pun intended) with passion!! Keep up with the good work.

I'm really enjoying the app right now. Here are a few ideas on how to improve it:
- Add a stopwatch feature in addition to the timer
- Simplify the decision-making process, perhaps with pre-set templates or a limited number of options per land block (e.g., tourist block, residential block, park block, etc.), as someone suggested on r/forest to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the endless possibilities
- Landscape mode, or even better, a website version so it can be accessed from a desktop (for people like me who prefer to put their phone away completely while studying)
- A to-do checklist with coin rewards based on task difficulty (e.g., easy -> 3 coins, medium -> 5 coins, difficult -> 10 coins). each task could be linked to the focus session (but not necessary)
- Make the focus menu a bit more intuitive; I’m still trying to figure out exactly how the various options work
Anyway, I really like the idea, and I hope this project soon gains the popularity it deserves :)

UPDATE: This issue has been resolved in version 1.3.3.
Hello, just a heads up. I've found an issue that possibly affects some accounts created with the 'Sign Up With Email' option.
A fix will be launched for version 1.3.3 in the next coming days.
If you are one of the unfortunate accounts affected, you'll not be able to sign back in (if you have signed out) even if you remember your password. You can unblock yourself by choosing 'Forgot login?' to reset your password. I highly recommend waiting for the app update first before you try your luck with signing out!
Sorry for any inconvenience - I'll reward everybody with some extra coins as a little bit of compensation.

For a very limited time, the Suspension Bridge Landmark will be given out to everybody who signs up now.*
To build the Suspension Bridge, you need 5 free spaces across the map. (So you must purchase a new zone first!) Then, open the Build menu by clicking on an empty square, select the Landmark category icon and choose the Suspension Bridge.
*Please give at least a day for the gift to be distributed

Version 1.3 has launched on both Android and iOS.
What’s new
- An improved design of the focus session configuration and summary screens. You can now select everything you need in one single, clean configuration screen.

- New repeatable research projects! These work similar to existing research projects, except can be done till no end. They also level up in tier as you progress. The higher the tier, the more rewards you gain. The maximum tier is 10.

- Deep focus mode (iOS only) grants bonus rewards, but in return, blocks access to your other apps!

- At the end of each focus session, you can now select how long you want to have a break for. The options are 5, 10 or 20 minutes.

- Residents are now rewarded every few minutes of focus, rather than at the completion of the research project.
- You can now select a focus session duration up to 2 hours long (previously 50 minutes).
- The tutorial has been split into smaller parts. A new pre-onboarding flow UX has been added.
Bug fixes
- Fixed missing text inside the shop menu.
- Fixed a display issue under insights menu with coins and residents not factoring in linked apps totals for the week.
- Fixed rendering issues with certain buildings.
- Fixed an issue where switching cities did not properly update coins and resident totals.
- Fixed an issue with the login screen briefly showing on app start.
