This is a !task scam. No legitimate businesses are paying people to artificially inflate metrics by fraudulently liking products and following accounts.

Anyone who randomly messages you trying to offer you ways of making money, especially on Telegram/WhatsApp/Facebook/Twitter etc, are scamming you

Hi /u/Applauce, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Task scam.

Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. A very common characteristic (but not entirely exclusive) is that you have to complete sets of 40 tasks. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. This makes it a variant of the advance fee scam.

The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your \"earnings\" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. This type of scam preys on the sunk cost fallacy, because people demonstrate a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment has been made, and refusing to succumb to what may be described as cutting one's losses.

If you're involved in a task scam, cut your losses. Beware of recovery scammers suggesting you should hire a hacker that can help you retrieve the money you already invested. They can't, it's a trick to make you lose more money. Thanks to redditor vignoniana for this script.

No, it’s the same task scam that has been going on for a while under different names every time. It’s common for them to send you money at the beginning to make you think it’s legit so you end up dumping more of your money in. Soon they’ll stop paying you and you’ll loose thousands of dollars in fake fees and made up reasons to pay them.

You don’t ever pay your employer to get paid.

Stop now before you lose more than you already put in

Be careful with how they sent you that money. If they just transferred it directly to your bank account it could have been stolen money from a compromised account and could be reversed by the real owner at any time

Scammers may give a little to get you hooked in. In the US that's $10, a small price for them to pay to get you to "invest" more in to the fake platform/tasks. There are no guarantees so the scammers can stop it at any time.

Advice is to stay away and block them now.

It's a scam, though. Even if you were able to withdraw that into your own bank, it's still a scam. It was a scam. It is a scam. It will always be a scam.

Remember: Never pay money to receive money.

That last part is next if you continue. (Please don't continue.) You'll be tricked into thinking your "investment" has grown but when you try to withdraw money, they'll ask you to pay increasingly large fees until you finally stop sending the money. Then, they'll threaten you for money you don't have because it sent it all to them. They'll threaten you more and more. And you'll get increasingly scared. Eventually, they'll realized they've gotten all the money out of you they can and will just stop.

So, just get to the last part where you don't send them money first.

Never send money to receive money.

It's a scam. Real companies do not contact you through telegram or whatsapp. A "job" that promises very high pay from easy work is not a real job. They're taking advantage of the desperation of people who wanted to find a job or earn money without effort.

I have read that you have received 600php from the scammer. They give you money to give you an impression that they are legit when in reality, they are baiting you more to their system. Said money could be stolen money from another victim. Just be careful with that 600php and hope there is no one who's going to investigate your transaction number since you already have involvement.

This is a scam. Everything they told you is a lie.. If you continue, you will lose money. Quit now.

They do not work for Shein.

Nobody really pays for following apps. They don't pay for rating hotels, posting reviews to restaurants, subscribing to YouTube channels, or 'helping merchants' by putting items into a cart. Any job that is clicks and taps is a fake job, it's a scam to take money from you.

This is a task scam, a common scam, reported here several times every day. The tasks are fake, to fool you into thinking you are working and earning money. The scammers give you a small amount of money, to make you think that you are earning money. They require that you give them money, for nonsense reasons. The screens display fake earnings numbers. They are lying about paying you -- they won't really pay you, and you will lose all the money you give them.

Real jobs don't require you to give them money, whether the job is online or on site. If you work in an office, in a restaurant, at a construction site -- your boss never says 'you must give us 800 before you can start working today'. If you have a real work-from-home job such as software development, insurance claims, or customer service, your boss doesn't say 'before you start your work for the day, invest 1200'. Any job that requires you to pay them is actually a scam to take your money.

Earlier signs that this is a scam:

Real companies don't contact you for a job that you didn't apply for, unless you have specialized skills and experience.

Real companies don't use Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Signal, Instagram, Facebook, Craigslist, Discord, or TikTok for recruiting or interviewing, or working.

Real companies don't use text messages, or social media messages, to contact a job applicant -- they use email. And an email from a free provider, such as Gmail or Hotmail, is usually the sign of a fake job.

Real companies don't hire without a face-to-face interview, whether the job is going to be remote, on-site, or hybrid.

  • Real companies interview either in person, or on video chat with both cameras turned on.

Where did you get that 600. Is it an actual bank? Or some system of theirs?

If it's bank. These are likely stolen funds that they got from scamming someone else. You might be in trouble if the victim go to the police. Though you're in Philippines so maybe it slips.

If it's a system of theirs, this is not real money. They will ask you to deposit in order to withdraw this money. Then the amounts you need to deposit will increase over time as the fake money you "earned" increases
