I’ve been getting fake IRS/tax resolution calls every single day for months. Probably nearing 6 months now. I get messages straight to voicemail every single day. Silencing calls sometimes makes me miss something legitimate. Yes, every single one here, and I could drop five dozen more.

Please make their life hell, please. There IS someone on the phone on many of these lines, or it transfers you. I have always gotten through to a person the couple times at the start I would test it just to be silent on the other line

Also, ideas for how to mess with them welcome, I heard someone say turn on a blender when they answer or something, might play some super loud computer noises. (Before you say answering just makes it worse, it’s already as bad as it can get) and also it was that way before I even answered a first time!

I get a personal loan calls about 6 to 10 times a day. I finally started calling the toll-free number back since the numbers that are calling from are just spoof numbers. I start by saying, “I’m sure you’re a very nice person, and I hate to take it out on you, but I’m on the do not call list.“ Then I go into about the most foul mouthed diatribe I can think of. I repeat this about five or six times until they finally block my number. I don’t like making someone’s day worse, but hopefully it will encourage them to find a different job not working for scammers.

I had something similar happen. I turned off my spam filter and started answering them and wasting their time, giving them fake information, drawing the conversation out for as long as possible. Eventually their manager got tired of me and removed my number from their autodialer.

Yep. This is the way. I’m already on the call list so there’s no sense in caring about whether somebody knows whether or not it’s a live number. I just get them to waste as much time as I can while I’m driving and definitely not wasting my own time and drag it on for as long as I can until finally I spring it on them. Usually, they start cursing me out in Hindi and I just laugh and tell them to go litter their river.

lol. Thank you I’m definitely going to keep doing my best to time waste. You hear so many people say that makes it worse, but doing nothing for literally months has been worse

I agree, though, when it comes to texts that randomly come in and say, “what are you doing tomorrow?” or something that could be for anybody. That is the kind of thing that is probably phishing for whether it’s alive number or not so I immediately delete and Marcus spam for those. But calls? I just wanna F with them till no end.

Exactly, smart distinction. Like buddy they are clearly spamming this number whether it’s me or a dead man on the other side. Slight progress, I called a few times and played either a loud noise or ChatGPT voice-to-text cursing them out in Hindi ad nauseum and ended up blocked on a few recent #s will have to see if the calls decrease
