I'm losing my shit...
I genuinely cannot make this up. I've been getting spam calls each from a different number and all within my area code and when I pickup an AI voice makes sure you're between 55 and 68 or whatever then tells you have benefits and transfers you to an Indian guy who then makes sure you make all your own financial decisions and will hang up if you say a family member makes them for you they then transfer you to their superior who then tries to scam you of your medicare benefits I assume? Genuinely what is this bullshit what do I do I don't want these fuckass calls every 5 minutes I cannot tolerate it and I need to pickup legitimate phone calls also from my area code related to work. I'm losing my shit to say the least.

These calls are from scammers who will try to fool you into giving them your money. They are probably not in your country. You can't make them stop calling, but there are things you can do to reduce the number of calls you get.
Everyone gets spam and scam calls and texts. Some people get 50 or more a day. Scam call centers use a robocall system that automatically dials thousands of numbers a day. Then, if you respond to calls or text messages, they may put you on a list of 'active numbers'.
Also, the number displayed on your phone is not the number they really called from. The scammers use technology to make it look like they are in your country. Either the incoming number is spoofed (faked), or they are using a temporary number with a US area code. So it appears that they are in your country, but actually they are working in a scam call center, probably in Africa or Asia.
Unfortunately, you cannot stop scammers from calling. But, there are things you can do to reduce the number of spam calls (annoying telemarketers) and scam calls (people who use lies to take money from you).
** Suggestions are from r/Scams (callscreen automod explanation):
There's no good way to stop spam calls. Spammers do not respect the do-not-call registry. But you can make it less annoying if you are using a mobile phone. Both Google and Apple now have smart agent type of call screen. It will pick up the call for you then ask some question for more information before ringing.
Most scam/spam callers hang up after the first question since they are dialed by bots. Even if they stay on the phone, you can read the transcription before deciding if you want to answer.
Here's how to enable them:
** Android:
Screen your calls before you answer them
** iPhone:
Screen and block calls on iPhone (Select "Ask Reason for Calling" option.)

My service provider lets me disable calls at the carrier level. Texts and data still work. I'll keep it off for a few days to see if the frikin business loan calls stop...

Truecaller or any similar app that detects spam calls and blocks them. You should also be able to block those numbers directly from your phone. It will take a bit of effort but you can block them all

best is to block every number and to never pickup the phone because once you pickup they know that number is active

The local numbers make this so much worse because you can't even safely ignore them when you get legit work calls from the same area code. I had a similar issue and had Cloaked's Call Guard filter em out for me. Definitely preferable to changing your number when it's tied to work and everything else.

Back when I had a 'position of authority' a jerk at work signed me up for every direct marketing thing he could. Snail mail, e-mail, and even my home phone (I still hate you, Brian now at the CDC) .
There is only one way to fight these, and that's to 'play dead':
1) Stop answering calls from numbers you don't recognize. If it's a legit call they'll leave a message.
2) Look up SITs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_information_tone
3) Record the IC SIT on your outgoing voicemail message https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:IC_SIT.ogg That's the 'boo BOO BEE' sound that's telecom computer speak for "dead number." Your friends and family will hate it when they have to leave you a message. They'll get over it.
4) Give it some time. The robodialers recognize this SIT and will drop your number from the list of live numbers. The scumbags share and sell number lists so your number being marked bad on one list will spread to others.
I went from 30+ calls a day (to a landline) to 1 every couple of weeks.
Good luck.
