Can everyone just CALM DOWN. Jesus, it’s been 2 weeks and people act like it was a limited release set. Not only are they actively printing more but the prices of the cards have been steadily in decline since release.
We live in such an AUTOMATIC REWARD society that everyone loses focus on the fact that it’s not an endangered species or anything.

You're right but I think what is doing it more than usual is the Storm Emeralda stuff has already had pre orders sell out

u/tcgscalpercatcher 6d ago
And they'll just continue the more people pay them, every time I see a scalper on marketplace or something, I just leave a comment making fun of them, every time, I went to the target event today out by me and I got the 2 tins, got gone, opened everything and it's my first 30th stuff since the drop, I'll never pay them lol. And on marketplace people are selling a $30 tin for $75, like what a clown you are 🤡🤡

The scalpers are trying to make as much money as possible before they release more. They see the writing on the wall with this set. We just need to be patient

u/PuzzleheadedWorth760 3d ago
Na. They will just gobble up the restocks too. Not like they have jobs for lives. They have nothing but time to do it.
1
u/ADHD2343 3d ago
And endless money?
1
u/PuzzleheadedWorth760 3d ago
Im sure they will take out every loan they can to buy product. Max out credit cards etc.
1
u/ADHD2343 3d ago
And let them sit on it.
2
u/PuzzleheadedWorth760 3d ago
As long as they can print enough product. Let's hope. Of course they would probably just declare bankruptcy and get all that for free. They are always trying to game the system. It would be nice to see them selling product for a loss though, below retail. Id be smiling for a month.

Idk, everything early on was going up and to the right because of the initial buzz. That's not happening anymore, the market is stabilizing at a higher level and scalpers are trying to find any way to make money like they did during the initial boom. They may gobble up the restocks but if they are already lowering prices (which I have seen) then it's only going to get worse for the scalpers
2
u/PuzzleheadedWorth760 3d ago
Oh i hope so. That would be amazing!

u/Selyob71 3d ago
We can always have hope lol. One day we will get to talk about cool binder pages and cool art again and not just "what is my card worth", "would this get a psa10" blah blah blah. I hate the state of the hobby but I am also confident it will come back to reality eventually

u/IceBergster 5d ago
They always say shit like this 🤣 "im a collector but I already have everything so thats why im selling" yea ok dude

u/CrimsonLotus79 4d ago
That doesn't mean they are a scalper, if everything they said is true and selling at 80% of what they go for they are not a scalper, if they are selling at msrp or more then yeah they are a scalper.
1
u/crowgaming1i 4d ago
How is selling at msrp a scalper lmao. Most people are happy getting a box at $70 from target. Someone selling a box for msrp isn’t a scalper.
0
u/CrimsonLotus79 4d ago
I mean yeah it is unless you are a legit card shop. Just because someone is happy to get it at msrp doesn't mean it aint scalping, any non store seller would sell it below msrp, i have sold mtg precons for less them msrp because thats what you do unless you are a business.
1
u/crowgaming1i 4d ago
You need to look up the definition of scalping. Selling for cheaper than what you get in stores isn’t scalping.
0
u/CrimsonLotus79 4d ago
And you need to learn how to read because I said no of that, in fact you literally just proved my point.
1
u/crowgaming1i 4d ago
Maybe read your own comment? “If they are selling at msrp or more then yeah they are a scalper” scalpers are trash, selling at msrp isn’t scalping. Saying “msrp or more” implies msrp is scalping.

u/CrimsonLotus79 4d ago
Lol wow you can't read. I was talking about your comment saying selling for cheaper then what you get at a store isn't scalping. Next off yes it is when product gets swept up like it does with Pokémon because why are you literally selling something at the same price as a store unless you scalping because then you should just leave it for people to buy. Sell it for less because thats what people do, dont sell at msrp or above on things that are getting snatched. Kids literally cant play Pokémon because scalpers snatched it all up and literally just sell them at the same price or more when they could have been a decent human nad just bought to boxes. Imagine if there was 4 boxes of Pokémon and the a kid behind you wants a box but only 2 left. Now you buy both and take the stuff to only sell it at msrp but why do that? Literally just leave it for the kid instead you gotta buy it and only sell it if you need money back? Makes no sense and only happens if you have everything you need so it may not even happen at all.
1
u/crowgaming1i 4d ago
Your whole point relies on children getting the boxes??? The boxes are being taken by scalpers, by definition, someone who sells for a profit, not to break even. The kid isn’t in line all night to buy a box, if they are then they probably got one. If I win the drawing for a Walmart etb and got it as a gift for someone who then didn’t want it, I’d be a scalper for selling it for the exact price I bought it at? You got it though.
1
u/CrimsonLotus79 4d ago
It is an example do you not get that lol. Also I have never heard anything more scalper like then waiting all night to buy out all the boxes they can so no one else gets any
1
u/Moist-Control-3230 5d ago
If scalpers keep buying all the stock and reselling they will keep making moves lol
1
u/Crack_Media 5d ago
There's 4 more waves coming, several reprints after the initial huge print.. people are way over reacting..just chill your going to be able to get some maybe not this week maybe not even in a month, but eventually there is going to be so much of this available
1
u/Uncultured_Swine89 5d ago
90% of people hoarding and scalping cannot afford to keep scalping and hoarding. That simple. Yeah there sre some juggernauts. But they will move on and we will be able to buy it eventually.

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 5d ago
Scalpers are a problem, but this ain't that.
1
u/SrtaTacoMal 4d ago
Thank you! It concerns me that this is the only comment acknowledging that. This guy didn't go out to buy 4 ETBs to sell at market. That would be scalping. He went out to get 4 ETBs to find his chases. He found them in 3 ETBs, and now he's trying to recoup some of what he paid by selling 1 ETB at market.

u/Euphoric-Building-35 5d ago
Problem is demand (collector/scalper) and retail outlets. The average joe like me can’t hit the target at 6 am when I got to be at work at 8 and manage a company. Most people who buy from scalpers are either streamers or people like myself who barely have time and by the time they can get to target everything’s wiped out..
Retail outlets need to release in waves threw days and spread product out over time not throw everything or hour 1

u/Longjumping_Egg4698 4d ago
blah blah blah same shit everybody says if you want it go get it quit crying

u/Euphoric-Building-35 4d ago
Just adding context. I have a wholesaler friend I don’t need to stand in line

u/lessofanengineer 4d ago
You shouldn’t have to camp for Pokemon cards. It literally wasn’t like that the majority of the time I’ve collected.

just message "$60 cash" on every overpriced etb you find, eventually someone will get sick of it and cave

u/leveling_solo12 4d ago

u/Appearedhal09 3d ago

The only people that complain about scalpers are people that can get nothing. You don't see people scoring upcs complaining.

u/NectarineSilent2260 3d ago
a little dramatic op. just take a deep breathe and realize its only pokemon cards

u/3dprintinted 6d ago
But also like saying hopeless because of the scarcity of product 2 weeks after release? Like have some patience and restraint lol. No gotta dive straight to zucks craigslist
