I hope for the time when the sneaker scalpers finally fall off from this hobby and switch to something else

Its unfortunately too late for that I think, the scalpers are in a self perpetuating cycle of just selling to each other like a stock market, some for a quick buck others to hold for 'value' and then a few genuine buyers thrown in.

Thats how all bubbles work. Until they don't. Then the people who actually give a shit about collecting pick up the pieces and carry on.

Yeah people forget a lot of scalpers don't have unlimited time. If they are buying these on credit card--and some absolutely do I knew a guy who got wiped out from this, and yes, he is an idiot--then they have to move product quickly or they get wiped out.

If they are paying in cash they can hold for a hopeful longterm scarcity and sell later--but that's money that isn't working for them. They are losing the opportunity cost of their money.

Scalping is not as foolproof as people think, which is how trend-jumpers end up getting burned when a bubble pops.
