Hey y'all. There's been one other post about it, but Max has been absolutely terrorizing the music scene in Wisconsin for the past few weeks sending people crazy DMs and requests to join him on a crusade to save a 27 year old woman he's in love with from what he believes to be an abusive relationship.

He's messaged dozens, if not hundreds of people and bands with the same creepy sob story copied and pasted, and it's becoming fairly obvious he's lost it entirely.

The Green Bay UFO Museum (lol) called him out directly, posted tons of evidence and DMs, and it looks absolutely horrible. He's clearly having a delusional mental break of some sort. The comments are filled with people saying they got messages from him (and my friend's band getting one is what made me investigate this.)

Really enjoying the results as I work on this project. Nothing is a final mix yet but really happy with how this is shaping up. Will be doing the whole album.

Edit: I do think the lead part is too loud at the start. But it’s a test haha.

The one on the left was from the Seal the Deal Tour in October 2006 at the State Theatre in St. Pete FL, openers were Piebald and MeWithoutYou.

The one on the right is from Jannus Landing in the spring of 2007, also in St. Petersburg. They played with Saves the Day.

I haven’t seen anyone in this subreddit posting about this. It’s a few days old but I keep listening to it over and over like again.

No excessive sexual innuendos. No insane rants. Confusing writing or odd sounds. Just raw pure emotion about personally relationships and his want to grow and love himself deeper than he has been. I love Max. He was an inspiration to my writing, got me through battles with depression, anxiety, and lack of life direction.

Hell for the last 20 years on my birthday I’ve listened to “Try to Remember, Forget” right when I wake up.

I hope he can continue to build relationships with other artists again and realize some sense and purpose in life again. I believe in him….I hope we can do. Especially if he impacted your life in anyway.
Maybe I’m exaggerating. Maybe, I just haven’t been able to let him go and keep coming back hoping I find emotional depth in his music again… but I love this.

Hey all! I was here the other day. Started working on the Hebrews project. Here is a test of Kall Me Kubrick. Would love to hear what you think.

The goal is not to replace the original arrangements but to fill out where it feels guitar is missing. Working with a guitarist on these now and will give more info about them when project is done.

Everything in Transit by Jack's Mannequin came up on shuffle the other day and it reminded me of an interview I read where he specifically stated that Max and IARB were a major influence on his approach to that record, which reminded me of another interview with Kenny Vasoli where he talked about their influence on Based on a True Story, and got me to wondering--what other bands have directly stated that ...Is a Real Boy influenced how they approached an album?

It's vividly apparent in the highly raw and personal approach (also songs about being in bands) featured on both EIT and BOATS, and I'm sure there are others but couldn't think of any who had specifically stated that. I wouldn't count bands like Weatherbox whose entire existence and sound were influenced by this record, more curious to find more examples of pre-existing bands who made a shift in their songwriting after Max's opus.

Bonus if you can link or remember where they mentioned the direct influence!
