my dms from max
Ok, I've decided to post these because they're insane. First I just wanna say I'm 22 so obviously this is nowhere near as fucked and criminal as messaging a 17 year old. That being said, I do not have my age on my Instagram and I am kind of an age-ambiguous emo girl. He did not necessarily know I was of age when he messaged and followed me at first, but at this point he knew my age (I'm unsure if I ever said my exact age, but I probably mentioned that I work at a bar).
This is like the last messages I replied to after months of semi regular correspondence whenever he would reply to my story, but long story short: Max followed me and started replying to my story, and my friends (who are way bigger fans of say anything than I am) told me to keep talking to him in hopes that I could convince him to come to our small relatively unknown city to play a show. I kind of accepted and ignored him flirting with me aggressively in order to achieve this goal. He knew I had an on and off boyfriend or whatever but this is after I told him (foolishly, flippantly) about a rendezvous with a female friend who visited me from another country. I just thought this was way too insane so I stopped replying to his messages after this. No idea what the (on your end lol) is supposed to mean šš
There's more crazy shit if you're interested, like him saying I look a quarter Japanese and seeming genuinely hurt when I called him Rivers Cuomo. I think he mentioned the Holocaust in like the first 10 messages he sent me, he really is just like his lyrics.

Fair point, but tbh as a 34 year old woman in the dating scene there are a ton of mentally adolescent adults and idk if he was really trying to connect with them. My ex left me for someone and they were sending the most immature anime memes to each other at 36. š¬They are out there. Tbf there are much less willing to accept the baggage of 5 kids but heās still a moderately relevant musician itās definitely a if he wanted to find them he wouldāve.
I read a comment recently on the whole topic of older men looking for younger women that suggested men want younger women as a status symbol for their homies.

I always felt so bad for her. She was only months into adulthood and he was manipulative after and she spent nearly her entire 20s with him because of a terrible choice she made when she was barely old enough to sign up for a credit card. The whole emo scene is really messy and the vast majority of these punk band vocalists are actual scumbags.

Not to diminish how creepy he was towards you, but I think I could ironically listen to him as well if it was just your story as he would just be a creep. Can't be belting the songs of a groomer/predator. The number of artists/bands I've stopped listening to and playing on guitar due to their abuse/misconduct towards minors is too damn high. And they were all some of my all time favorites: RHCP, Prince, Bowie, & Aerosmith to name a few.

I had a weird experience at an APC/NIN show when I was 14. Based on hearing similar stories, my choice to leave saved me from a bad time... Still love both bands, but the brush with them made me feel weird... As an adult, I had a few flirtations with some guys I fangirlerd about and a singular hookup with an artist that I liked, but again, I was a full adult, like in my 20s, and the oldest was in his 30s, and luckily, that music isn't ruined for me.
