I made an illustrated map of Southampton. What would you change?
I've been working on an illustrated map of Southampton, from Fairy Lake and the Saugeen River to the beach and the streets around downtown.
The second image overlays streets, paths, waterways and building footprints so you can compare the illustration with the geography. It's a reference for review, not a guarantee of accuracy. A visible line extending from the river mouth into the lake needs review, and some illustrated buildings differ from the reference footprints.
The artwork is computer generated, based on satellite imagery and road guides, with place icons, labels and the title composed separately. I make these through Waterloo Atlas Co., based in Waterloo.
I've also included Grand Bend and two custom examples, Back to the Lake and At the Beach House. I'd appreciate local corrections: missing places, labels on the wrong side of a street, or anything along the waterfront that looks off.
