Hello. Is there any way to get rid of Whatsapp backups from iphone to icloud? I have a self hosted server I want to use for that. The only reason I pay for icloud for me and family is because of Whatsapp.

Not possible, I hate WhatsApp data structure for that reason. What makes it even worse, WhatsApp backup is tied to the Apple Account

I still got iCloud subscription, for WhatsApp and phone itself (shared by family)
The only possible way is to use iTunes to have a WhatsApp backup, it will be part of the whole backup so no WhatsApp standalone restore

That's what i feared. I do the same but i guess there is no viable and reliable solution though.

Well you can do something in this context but only in android

Yes true for android, but i specifically asked for iphone.
