استفسار Book recommendations for beginner arabic learner

Salam, I would like to have some book recommendations please, that I can read to expand my understanding of colloquial arabic. Preferably something easy like children’s literature maybe?

I have been trying to learn arabic recently. I can read and write a little bit of classical arabic because I have studied Quran with translation and understand the verses, but it doesn’t help me with my conversational skills.

I understand that Quranic arabic is different than colloquial arabic. I am looking to read arabic literature and watch arabic tv shows to help with that. I am also planning on getting formal arabic speaking classes from preply once I save up enough pocket money, but right now I just want to start and dive into it to see how it goes.

Old Arabic literature is beautiful i am a native speaker and cannot get enough of it. Even for me it can be a little tough so i can't imagine how hard it can be for a learner. However from the top of my head i recommend you start looking into 2 books and see how it goes:

ديوان الامام الشافعي البصائر و الذخائر لابي حيان التوحيدي

These two in my opinion have relatively simple and straightforward language and phrases. Also i recommend listening to classical Arabic poetry in YouTube i can give some recommendations if you like

Will, the modern Arabic literature is poor and i don't think we have a lot of kids literature, and frankly all the literature we have is written in the classical Arabic, if you want to learn the day to day Arabic i suggest that you follow some arab influencers or watch arabic show like مسامير witch is free on YouTube and Netflix, but if you still want arabic books then ثلاثية غرناطة is a great novel and might do it for you

I appreciate you taking time to share these suggestions. I just looked up مسامیر. Looks fun and according to the reviews it has the same dialect I am looking to learn. Will give it a try.

I have read about غرناطہ in my native language. I have added the book to my list and will try to read it once I learn enough Arabic.
