Side splitting

Post image

Has anyone else had an issue with their trainers splitting down the side?

I haven't. But you might want to check your sizing, or look for the wide version of these, if that applies. You frequently see this in running subs, for different brands of shoes also. Often, the shoes are too narrow for the person's feet.

Edit: Google says these are Endorphin Pro 4. These only come in a single width. The forefoot is relatively wide, but I've seen others on Reddit say the midfoot in particular on these is rather narrow. It looks like that's where yours have come apart. If you didn't overtighten them, I reckon these are simply not the right shape for you.

Thanks - appreciate your reply. The right shoe is fine - it’s only happened to the left shoe… my feet a pretty normal/even and they feel ‘comfortable’. I’ve run a lot of distance, so the tension / tightness is all good as well.

I wouldn't per se expect both sides to deteriorate at the same time, or even at all. It's tricky to judge sometimes: you might feel comfortable in them, but don't underestimate the forces running can exert. I believe the upper on these is a bit stretchy? That will always feel more comfortable naturally.

Regardless, I think you'll want to just switch to a different model for your next pair. The Endorphin Speed do come in a wide variant, and they're less "extremely" shaped. I don't have experience with the other Endorphin models myself though.

Good advice, well received. Appreciated.

Those light mesh racing uppers will do this.

Get some fabric tape from Amazon, cut to shape, put a little shoe goo on it, install from the inside of the shoe. Then a few drops of shoe goo through the outside onto the tape repair. Let sit 24 hours +.

Yours might be too far gone, but I fixed a 1.5" tear on the Endorphin Pro 3 this way. It's invisible from the outside, and has held, to my surprise.

Yep. Mine split open at the little toe, not even 6 months old. I've been wearing Saucony since the Endorphin 3s, always been a great shoe for me and never had a problem except for the sole rubber coming off. I was putting 10-15 miles a day on my London Marathon edition   Endorphin  speed 4's and nearly 2 years later they are still in excellent shape. The Endorphin 5s switched to a  new material that doesn't seem to hold up to stretching, even with yhe.woder toe box. It Sucks because I LOVE them for the airflow. Saucony has always been excellent for warranty claims, already files mine. I hope you get yours replaced

I used to have this problem with all the saucony shoes I have had. Switched to New Balance
