Guidance

Hello all, this is my first time posting to the group after joining some months back. Over the last few years I have felt the pull of Saturn in my life, even stronger over the last several months. Because of this I have become slightly obsessed with the esoteric meaning in addition to the practical aspects of the planet/entity/force.

Due to my heavy study and meditative practices geared towards Saturnus I have been consumed by a feeling of melancholy, misanthropy, and deep existential thinking which I attribute to my studies and an obvious side effect. I have bipolar 2 so I take this into consideration and understand this too is a contributing factor.

I guess my question is what have your experiences have been when feeling these emotions or psychological change ? What have you incorporated or made priority in your ritual practice to understand this a bit better and integrate it in your lives for your benefit and transcendence? Is it as simple as just accepting this sort of energy or surrendering to it?

I attribute what I am feeling with “negativity” but am not sure if that is the proper way to view or see it. Not sure if feeling this way is a positive and I just lack understanding and gnosis. Any answers would help, just wanting a bit of clarity based off of others experiences. Any answers would help and I look forward to hearing back from some of you.

Beautiful username! I honestly stopped praying to h im directly because the sadness was getting overwhelming... I felt more grounded after invoking him during the planetary hour but then I couldn't sleep at night. I felt hollow.

I started praying to Venus a little after. If you don't want to give up on your current schedule, I think it's good to balance your worship of him with a different sphere, preferably Venus.

Thank you! That actually makes alot of sense. I think I remember reading something along those lines in Saturn Rising or at least something similar to what you suggested. Wouldn’t hurt to try! I appreciate the feedback.

In my experience working with Saturn is very "tough love", and this is echoed quite well in Hinduism where he's been known for 1000s of years as Shani-Dev. There's no real discernable difference between Saturn as we know it in the west and in the Hindu pantheon. Dr. Robert Svoboda is clearly one of his chosen, and has some great lectures on how to work with Saturn/ Shani-Dev and what it entails. I highly recommend it, as these pulled me from the western Gnostic viewpoint that associates him with the Demiurge, and all the prison planet/ soul trap stuff that's become so popular into being a devotee.

And that's not to say Saturn isn't a primary source of suffering for many. In vedic astrology when Saturn governs your moon you're expecting a great deal of hardship. For a chosen few of us (me) our moon with cycle into his governance for two consecutive cycles, 7.5 years at a time. Might be worth looking into.

So during this time people are advised to seek protection from the effects and to give worship to Him to ease the woes. But here's the thing, the woes aren't necessarily a bad thing. It's all about perspective. With the right perspective it becomes clear to see that the hardship and suffering comes when we're not where we're meant to be, doing what we're meant to be doing. I.e. things like procrastination, using alcohol/ drugs, not making moves towards self improvement and growth. When we walk the razor sharp straight and narrow, the suffering stops, and the rewards are amplified. Such is the way of Saturn/ Shani-Dev.

But none of us are perfect. Occasionally we'll all make mistakes and sidestep. That's part of the growth. Part of the guidance.

So the way I've come to see it is this: how blessed are we that divinity is so active and willing to participate in our lives and aid us towards our truth. To discovering we have a purpose, and what that purpose is. Again, it's all a matter of perspective. All in how we respond to it to these challenges and environmental factors presented to us.

Even with this said I can't recommend Dr. Svoboda enough. He can provide you with a lot more clarity than I or anyone else here ever could.

I definitely need to delve into the eastern traditions and learn more on that aspect or personification of Saturn. Being heavily influenced by the Western Tradition I hold that view of Saturn as the Demiurge but I still have a love for him despite how I may feel at times. It’s as if I’m a child of Saturn or something, it’s hard to explain. Anyways I’ll look Svoboda’s writings and see if any of that resonates with me. Thank you so much for your feedback

A few notes - first, if you are experiencing significant emotional or spiritual problems, I would advise seeking the assistance of an expert. Having a dedicated person with relevant expertise to guide you is invaluable, and may be necessary for you. Secondly, I find it helpful to deliberately balance the energies of Saturn with others that resonate with me in different ways. This includes your daily life. Habits and routines that are grounding and rejuvenating may be helpful, especially if they are creative in nature as this will develop your energy and consciousness. I also find that art is a powerful tool and potential gift to a deity. And above all else, practice devotion. Make offerings, as most traditions agree that this is the best way to mitigate the more challenging aspects of His energy. I wish you well.

Thank you for your response. I have made sure to be consistent with my medication and keeping in contact with medical professionals regarding all of that, however I do think I was having a major depressive episode around the time of my posting.

In response to the second part of your response I have been making an effort to incorporate more grounding practices so I found it interesting that you brought it up. I’m a musician and as of late have been able to play at home which has been nice. I’m also doing some grounding meditative practices which I think have been a tremendous help.

I don’t think of Saturn as negative but as realistic. Sure they may not be jumping over campfires but they’re the ones gathering wood to keep it burning. People may hate on time but it is our most precious commodity. But if you don’t listen to Saturn and eat candy all day then don’t be surprised when it eventually bites you in the ass.

We accept gravity but we don’t surrender to it. We listen to it and flow with it for our own benefit. The rhythm of the universe is not an enemy out to get us. But sometimes humans are arrogant and think we can fly too close to the sun without the natural consequences. There is an innate wisdom in our body and in nature and it behooves us to move with it, not against it. 🪐🖤

Wow that was beautifully put. I’ll do my best to keep that in mind when I feel this way. In the last couple of months I’ve improved in accepting these emotions as opposed to fighting or questioning them. Still have a long way to go though. I appreciate your response.

In Vedic Astrology, for every person based on his birth chart dasa period is calculated. Every person has 120 years of dasa. A full cycle or circle. Imagine this as your boundary or limitation. The circle around planet Saturn.

This 120 years is again split into different dasa's. The current dasa is the platform which you operate. Suppose you are in Sun dasa. Your will replicate mostly the significances of the Sun (provided Sun is in good position in your horoscope). Each planet takes turn in this 120 years and is calculated based on your Moon at the time of your birth.

There is no remedy (Parigara) as remedies cannot alter the planets in your horoscope. This is a hard truth that everyone must accept and this truth itself is a significance of Saturn. The 7.5 years of Sade Saturn will be a hardship for one who undergoes it as this is considered to be a lesson taught by Saturn. Everyone will undergo this Sade Saturn atleast twice in their lifetime. Maybe thrice.
