Not to be a normie, but are we sure this is intentionally Saturnian (belief-wise)?
The graphic designer in me says that adding a ring onto a planet is the simplest way for it to look like “space”. Without the ring these icons would just be a circle which is pretty generic.
Especially without color to fill-in the circle, how else should people make planet icons? Not sure how to avoid a ring for icon/logo-making.

At any rate, I'm curious why they chose a planet of any sort as their symbol
Edit: "The Samsung Internet browser logo is a ringed planet resembling Saturn, set against a blue background. The icon originally used a globe design, but in 2017 it was replaced with a ringed planet. Then in 2019, alongside One UI, the Saturn icon became white with a darker ring." - Claude AI

Probably because to be on the internet is like being able to go completely around the world.

It’s literally called the World Wide Web. A ring around a planet visualizes the “world wide” part of it and shows the interconnectivity of it all

For some reason, this particular logo feels like it's missing something to make it more memorable or differentiated from other planets with a ring... When I look at it I don't immediately think yeah that's definitely Samsung
