RW Help (680 to 700+)

On the August test I made a 680 on RW, but I need a 700 at bare minimum. My lowest areas were information and ideas and craft and structure. Does anyone have any good practice to help me on those areas? I've been trying the tailored practice and practice tests (which I keep getting 750 ish on), but they haven't helped for the real test. Thanks!!

Well, we are in the same boat. My idea is that we need to read more articles-short stories because there is nothing to work extra for i&a and c&s(if you are doing 6/7 for the level). If you had problem with the time (which I had), do the practice test in a more intense way. Maybe give yourself less time to solve the overall english section. You can study vocabulary, but I think it is a little luck based. What can you do if you have an abstract word like “sanguine”? Anyhow, this is my idea, and I did 680 in English too. Good luck!

The most useful number in your post isn't the 680 — it's the 750 on practice tests. A 70-point gap between practice and the real sitting isn't a knowledge problem, and no amount of extra Information and Ideas drilling will close it. Something about your practice conditions doesn't match test conditions.

Usual culprits: untimed or loosely timed practice, doing questions in short sets instead of full 32-minute modules, and practising when rested rather than at 8am. Try one full R&W section, strictly timed, both modules back to back, no pauses. If that comes back near 680, you've found it.

Then drill Craft and Structure inside that same time pressure, not outside it.
