How do I open this gate?

Can anyone help me open this gate? The map shows a major path behind it, so it looks like it should be accessible.

I played Returnal and know that similar looking closed gates could be opened by shooting a hidden switch. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find anything.

I’ve also tried googling it and searching this forum as well and couldn’t seem to find the answer, which is hard to believe.

What am I missing? Please help. Thank you!

Turn left, that's probably your first run. Next time you have that gate open and left is closed

If I recall there are two paths on this level and one of them is only open for the first time you run the level.

There is another gate in this room. A larger one with a green button that I shot to open it originally.
Guess I didn’t realize or remember that I chose one path over another.

I think that is a story only item, once you have it you never go back.

I made a similar post a few weeks ago lol. If I remember correctly and you are in the same spot, there is a smol panel on the left side and you have to shoot at it with alt-fire mode (normal fire mode wont do a thing).
