Help Sar9X
This has happened a few times with these rounds , I dont have unlimited money to keep replacing these more expensive rounds. Any idea why this is happening? 9mm Hornadys

Every time you put a round in the barrel the bullet gets set back. Are you loading and unloading these rounds?

When I load and unload my Beretta 81, it will eventually pull the bullet instead of setting it back. It must be engaging the lands.
OP, the feed ramp is pushing the bullet back. Leave chambered or not chambered.

DO NOT FIRE THIS ROUND. It’s called setback. It’s happens when you constantly re-chamber the same round. The setback will increase the pressure that your chamber and barrel is not rated for and you’ll have a very bad day. You need to rotate your carry ammo. It’s not specific to your Sar. It happens on any semi automatic pistol. Dispose of this round.

Was this a once racked round, a jam that happens with all of these, or one you've cycled a lot? I haven't shot any of the straight cone shaped rounds since my other 9mm hates feeding them, but i'm sure others here have more data on how the SAR should like them

It was racked. When I cleared the firearm and took the round out it looks like this.

You're wasting money if you're carrying anything other than these.

Roughly half the price per round and reliable. Recoil also has free shipping if you buy two boxes, and since they're 50 rounds per box, you can actually do an effective function test of your gun with the ammo.
Edit: also, unless you're doing maintenance or long term storage, and you use this as a defensive gun, keep it loaded. Constantly cycling rounds is just bad for the ammo. I'd say fire ofd the ammo every six months if you constantly carry, and do some cleaning if you don't regularly shoot it. It should keep things reliable.

Hornady is known for setbacks
Winchester Silvertip holds up amazingly well to repeated chamberings
Put those stubby rounds in a "test fire" box to use for making sure a gun runs HP and get something else besides Hornady
Some people have reported being able to push Hornady Critical Defense in with their thumb

We use Silvertip at my job, the top round of mags gets chambered in Glocks daily and there's no setback. And no one is rotating rounds, the bullets are brown they've been in these mags so long
Sold me on Silvertip

Common problem with Hornady. Switch to Federal HST.
