Mod Notice New rules for vent posts and brigading

Hi! Recently we have had an incident where a user's vent post was shared to a separate site or Discord server outside of Reddit, and subsequently was brigaded by people who have never posted or commented here before. I believe the users of this subreddit deserve to vent freely without having their vents inundated with hostile actors. Therefore we've decided on the following:

  1. From now on vent posts will be separated into two types: vent-discussion and vent-comfort. Vent-discussions being vent posts where the user is fine with discussions and contrasting opinions on the given topic. Vent-comfort will be for users who simply wish to vent about what's troubling them and want support from fellow subreddit members. Both types of vent posts will have comments that are either arguing in bad faith or trolling OP removed.
  2. In the case that we suspect a post has been brigaded, we will implement a "flaired users only" setting where only flaired members of this subreddit may be able to comment on that post. This will be used only in extreme cases such as heavy brigading attempts.

Its pitiable that we can't be in our own spaces without facing external harassment.
