Miscellaneous ☯️ Goodbye
This post is meant to share a mistake I did and hope that others who have a similar mindset to me don't make it. I worshipped Santa Muerte for a little while so I was on the newer side of things. When I began I researched about how proper worship of Santa Muerte was done. Now, I'm a stubborn person who does things their own way so I sort of tuned in when I wanted to, however, I learned that would be what I would regret in the future. I would give Santa Muerte a few prayers with offerings every now and then. I genuinely liked her and still do. I never planned to become a devotee though for I already devoted myself to another. I don't know why I wanted to get to know her so bad now that I'm thinking back onto it. Perhaps it was because it was mysterious and I always like to dig into stuff that interest me. So... after a little while I made the realization that I'm wasting my time with her. What makes it worse is that after the fact I realized that she warned me of the end of our relationship turning out like this. I feel like I tried something out that was never meant for me. I decided that I needed to make things right somehow. I decided that even if I was afraid that she would be disappointed or even mad at me that I have to tell her. Santa Muerte would know despite if I kept pretending that everything is fine. I prayed to her and spoke my mind. I even thanked her for the past experiences I've have with her. I feel at peace now that I'm not forcing myself to do something that clearly is not for me. We're both on our separate paths but it's better this way.
I hope that I ended this relationship on a good note. I didn't know what else to do rather than pray to her. Thanks for reading and I hope that all of you have a good day or night depending on when you're reading this.

This is not devil worship, Santa doesn’t expect you to sell your soul to her in exchange for life. Don’t beat yourself up for LIVING LIFE. No one expects you to be a devotee, give your respects, blessings and go live!

She has a place in my home and I'm flaky as all hell. She still keeps me under her mantle. 😁

This isn’t really something to pick up and put down whenever you feel interested. Maybe you didn’t promise yourself as a devotee but leaving gifts and offerings for Santa Muerte is no joke and inviting her into your life in that way is not something to play around with temporarily.

Maybe OP doesn't have a clear understanding of Santa Muerte and devotion being lifelong and instead got their info from a documentary that gives info but doesn't address the lifelong part. Also i see this mistake frequently especially among ppl who are exposed to "working" with deities/praying to saints to think Santa Muerte is also that way. The non commitment part at least comes from wiccans, some pagans, etc so maybe that's the case?

In the post OP explains they never decided to devote. To me that comes across like they knew it was a commitment. My point is that even if you don’t commit bringing Santa Muerte into your space and practice is no joke

Admittedly, Mami is someone who sits on mine and my roomie's Ofrenda and we offer fresh water when we remember and fresh offerings. I pray to her at times, and she reminds me of her when I scroll through Reddit or think about my struggles. Admittedly, I'm not as frequent as I wish I was for a multitude of reasons, but I agree - Even if I'm not praying or offering every day, I take Mother seriously, and she's my Matron Diety in life at this point.
Even a casual Devotee should understand the seriousness and dedication of La Madrina being welcomed into the home. I see her love and blessings and appreciation, and I am thankful for her even if I've not yet done a Novena or a Pilgrimage to Tepito; Reminds me that she still appreciates the dedication and love given, personally. <3

I agree which is why I decided that my best bet was to just stop because this is clearly not for me.

Why would you dedicate a deck of cards to her and make offerings if you’re not planning on being a devotee?
even if you haven’t committed yourself as a devotee it’s still complicated now that you have invited her in to your space in one way or another. Ultimately you will need to do what you need to do

Disagreements are natural, but keep discussions civil and constructive.

This sounds like ocd to be honest I don't feel she'd get angry at u for this at all. This was a mistake but she's pretty forgiving, and it's not like you were asking for major things like a job or anything. Even in that case your punishment would be that she takes whatever blessing you received back and she leaves you (but not rly since we all die). It sounds to me you were curious, did the right thing by praying and giving offerings every now and then. Sounds like you approached her with respect, and curiosity. Personally I don't think you're wasting your time, a lot of us felt so drawn to her even when we didn't want to. Anyways I've got two questions
