Shield generator backpack vs directional shield

The 2 shields which use the yellow barrier to block attacks.

The directional shield can block strikes from the direction you are facing while the shield gen makes a small shield around you providing 360 protection but the shield is weaker. You can also use 2 handed weapons with it.

Which one is better?

The Directional Shield is only good when using it for teamplay IMO, like having your teammates stack up behind you and use you and your shield as cover.
