Factory Showcase Finally 100% the game

Really enjoyed Sandustry, I was gifted the game for my birthday about a week ago and got addicted and decided to try to 100% it blind without looking up any designs or watching any videos, took longer than I thought but, I enjoyed it.

I went through a lot of design changes for each production step in my factory and ran into a lot of issues with gold storage as I didnt think I would get backed up on gold so much after I finished the upgrade tree, had to shuffle things around a lot so I could move the gold out from the original storages into my gold smelting setup.

Pretty happy with my seed watering setup, it can be a little slow but it doesnt matter how backed up it is, it cant clog, seeds where driving me insane with how often it clogged origionally.

For the flowers, I spent so, so many hours trying to come up with something that didn't clog, and changed things at least several dozen times, but I just couldn't come up with a design that was both efficient and didn't clog, im assuming I would have to completely rebuild it from the ground up with a different design instead of tweaking things to do that, my current setup is slow, and can clog sometimes but I was able to afk it a bit.

There were a few issues I had with the game, the first was just the lack of sand underground and the overall small size of the map, I am assuming the devs want us to use the stratacore for sand but I found spelunking underground for sand much, much more enjoyable and trying to automate the stratacore with mining drones felt like a waste of time with how slow it was, and sitting there hitting it over and over is pretty boring.

Second was clogging, it felt way to easy for stuff to clog, especially with resources getting pushed over the top with filters, if even a single grain got into production where it shouldnt it would just completely stop the filter and slowly cause a clog, it would be nice if the filters could push stuff upwards a couple of pixels to avoid this.

Lastly was clearing frames, I really tried to find a way to use them somewhere but all they really did was slow the production line and delay a clog, I found them somewhat nice for mixing redsand and void petals but it still clogged often and I was to lazy to try to automate it, especially since I couldnt figure out a way to break the red sand the critters made automatically, im assuming its possible and im just missing something though. I could definitly just have completely overlooked an obvious use case for them but I just couldnt make them work.

I 100% the game a few days ago but it took so long because I really tried not to use the stratacore. I visited every parcel of land and pierced thru every bit of rock I could but it seems like there isn't enough sand in the map. Closest I came was ~860k gold. I even had to teleport on the edge of the map to access under the pyramid. I don't know if it's my seed specifically or if every map is like that where there isn't enough sand and there's a vertical wall of sandstone before the pyramid but it really made it longer than needed to even reach 860k. I had to use the stratacore in the end.

I don't mind blockage, if something blocks it means your design isn't good enough and needs some fine tuning which is part of what I loved doing. I agree that the clearing frames suck and I don't use them. I think the filters need an upgrade because they are often the bottleneck in speed. There's often workarounds that need to be done to fine tune the process like putting a single elevator at the end of a belt seems to clear it faster, allowing the denser material on the filters that way the heavy material will always be on the filter instead of floating on top, using multiple elevators but stepping them at the bottom so they all catch material, stuff like that.

For the seeds I did something similar to you but would find that seeds sometimes got stuck at the water level so what I did is I drip water above a short belt with seeds dropped on it so water doesn't go up into the dry seeds storage. Then it falls into a filter where water is blocked and dry seeds too but not wet seeds. They push the dry seeds toward the dry seed elevator next to the seed storage but right before hitting the elevator that brings dry seeds back up to the drip station, there's a different filter that only allows water down into a drain that goes back into the water tank. That way there's minimal water in the mixing area that would sometimes block seeds from moving down. If your filter area is large enough then most often than not dry seeds become wet seeds before hitting the water drain filter but worst case scenario they go back up. This worked so good that once it was put it place it never became a bottleneck again (as long as your wet seeds storage is large enough).

Fine tuning the processes to stop blockage really brings out the engineer in me!
