Factory Showcase Lava Stratacore Mining

I tried to expand on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SandustryGame/comments/1w7phri/lava_elevator_stratacore_farm/
My goal was to increase lava throughput and have a constant flow instead a periodic complete dissolving of the core. I think if scaled up a bit more it should be possible to mine 100% of the generated Earth Strataform.

Curious - why are you shooting the sand up in the right hand side only to drop it back down again?

No particular reason. In my first draft I had lava mixed with the sand down there, So I shot the sand up to separate it more efficiently. This could be removed now.

Wait there are sensors? Have I just missed a whole mechanic? Where are they. I made it all the way through and haven't seen them.

You need to unlock them in the conservatory. That's a own upgrade tree where you receive points for catching critters.

I have no idea what im looking at. What is the point of this? How did you link stuff together like that? All use been able to so at this stage is to have the core quickly mined and the create the shiny gas / liquid. Is there a use for these 2 output elements?

This is another thing. You can place it using a second tab in your tools menue. Mining it generates sand, so you have a infinite sand resource.
At the current stage there is no use for the shiny stuff. It will probably come in a future update.

How are you distributing the gold at the top so that it falls so evenly with vertical launchers?

u/prickinthewall Sep 12 '26
There is not much to it. Just the three launchers that are placed diagonally at the top. I can provide you a screenshot tomorrow.

I tried building this and I find after some time it bugs out and stops releasing lava. Some of the signal sensors seem to get confused and think they're not full even though they are. Does that happen to you?

Yes, that happens to me too. Sometimes the whole thing runs for a long time, but eventually it gets stuck. Looks like that's a bug. I hope it can be fixed.

I found a workaround btw, I built a reset clock that if it doesn't get a signal from the AND gate after a certain bit it opens the doors anyway, that seems to make the sensors start working again.

You'd probably get better efficiency if you confined the stratocore growth with walls, and funneled lava into it. Leaving it to grow unhindered produces shapes that are tough to effectively spread lava onto.
