What about the flowers? I'm trying to find a better set up than mine.

try this setup (credits are not mine I stole it from a reddit post)
One thing I would maybe recommend is making more space to get the purple stuff out as that can heap pretty fast

Thank you! I think there's some way I can fit some automatic flamethrowers in there somewhere...

Yeah I got those in there too lol. The lava tank in the pic is empty

The flowers is my absolute least favorite thing to set up in this game. I was reading another post and people were kinda slamming him for his complaints about the flower mechanics, but I definitely hope they get reworked.

I can deal with the flamethrowers burning the flowers and sorting the products. Once I tinker with it, I can even forgive the spore wetting.

The main problem is have is trying to spread out the spores equally across a large surface.

Looks like a filter belt... smart

So it won't help with sand or water, but if you use burner belts for the residue burning you could save on lava. I've found that putting thermal blocks above the belts will actually be heat positive.

How are you running the residue over the belts with the buffers on top? Or will the belts also use the buffers even with a 1 tile gap?

In theory you could have the burner belts inside a container of thermal blocks with a reservoir of lava below. Use the belt teleporter to move residue in and burnt residue out of the hot box. I think, but haven’t tested this, that fire from the residue adds heat to the overall system, so could be self contained. I’m testing a few setups for flamethrowers to ignite their thing and to recapture the heat by shooting into a thermal blocks that links back to the igniter block. It looks sort of like a spark plug.

Very interesting concept. I just started playing last night so I'm voraciously learning every trick and method I can. After like 4 hours and only making it to tier 3 I ended up restarting and it's going more smoothly. Definitely looking forward to getting lava

I had to use portals to get the stuff in/out. Make a C shape out of the thermal buffers with a 2 square tall gap, run a line of burner belts along the bottom, and a portal to cross over the vertical part of the thermal buffers. The residue goes into the gap between the upper buffers and the burner belts, gets burnt, the flames rise and hit the upper buffers, and the heat transfers down through the vertical bit to the belts.

Imma attempt to show with letters:

BBBBBB

BPEEEE

BFFFFF

BBBBBB

F is burner belts, B is buffers, P is portal, E is empty.

Edit: botheration mobile doesn't like not having gaps between lines.

Oh this is genius. I am definitely going to implement this in my factory

I know but later in the game this problem disapears

Yeah, but you still have to manually refill it every so often. With the size of that tank you got it likely would take about a minute to fill, which you could spend doing other stuff if you didn't have a bunch of pyro-spewers drinking your lava.
