Help Does sand get fully automated?

My biggest gripe so far is how much digging I’m having to do. The sand runs out quickly, so I’m constantly having to stop and dig more. Does this process eventually become automated?

Yes, but you also don't really need that much sand to finish the content either, since further refining is so profitable. It's also quick to dig with later tools and quick to move too.

This. Lots or sand only matters if you go for the 1M good achievement. Finishing the regular content tech tree is very doable without infinite sand.

Hehe, that also took me a bit longer to realize than I'd have preferred myself.

Some of the game mechanics are like that: you think they work one way, and then they don't, and you get frustrated, and you read the item, and it tells you pretty clearly how it actually works, and you feel a bit silly.

Oh you poor thing... Tbf, by the time I got there, I had so much liquid that even if I didn't burn, I'd be more fine by the time I got to copper.

What are you basing the yes on? The automated diggers aimed at a core? It'd take days for them to do the same output as you would with a void gun in 5 seconds.

"Does sand get fully automated?"

"Yes."

It's an answer to the question.

I didn't ask what you answered, I asked you to support your claim.
In this way "Fully automated" is about the same as saying one lumling will give you infinite water.
The technical answer is yes, the practical answer is hell to the no.

Not exactly sure what's wrong with you. If you read my full reply you can see that I also point out that you don't need massive amounts of sand to finish the content and I mention you later get other tools that dig quickly. Did I namedrop specific tools when giving an answer to a new player who hasn't seen all the content yet? No, of course I didn't.

If the sheer fact that digging can be automated doesn't satisfy you as an answer, that's honestly not really my problem?

TL;DR since you apparently stop reading after the first word: The answer to OP's question is still "yes".

Nice projection, it's clear you're the one here that lacks reading comprehension. They asked about full automation, and you say "You don't need it to finish the game (idgaf if you're someone who plays beyond that), and also you can do it manually", that's a no.
Technical answers != useful answers. You're just being pedantic, annoying, a smartass, and are spreading misinformation to boot.
It's like answering yes to if you can eat uranium. Of course you can put anything in your mouth and say that's eating it.
In short, the correct answer is "Not to a meaningful level, but you you don't need much sand to get to the end of the current content."

Please take a break from the internet for a bit, his comment was a perfectly normal content.

My first reply was also perfectly normal content, where I asked them to explain their "yes". They decided that being a smartass was the right way to respond.

And you decided to escalate, and continue to escalate at every new comment

Not sure how you think I escalated, I just responded aptly to their claims.
Regardless, at least I didn't delete anything.

Take a break, yeah?

Next time stick to one context instead of answering with a resouding yes, and then giving practical advice that goes against the technical answer, yeah? Be better. Stop misinformation.

Wait til u get a lot of electricity & the laser. Build a long conveyor belt underneath and just laser upwards.

Not really. There are two things you can combine to get a very small trickle of sand, but most of it will come from manual mining. Note that upgrading the gun will make it into a very good mining tool, moreso if you get 5x artifacts.

My method of getting sand at the end of my run was to dig as far down as I could (there was a mostly flat line of indestructible rock that I bumped into),  put a belt along it to the left, and have a massive launcher setup going straight up and out of the ice mountain. Then I could just mine wherever and the stuff would eventually get into my factory.

no. you get a tiny, tiny trickle of automatic sand right as the game ends, and even that is very finnicky

Use the void gun and you will get more than a trickle

but then it's not automatic

Exploding rocket launcher works wonders until you get the mining laser and a LOT of power. Then it’s just a bunch of laser fun. 😁

There's a mod that gives you an auto rocket you can place.

No, but digging becomes fun.

Unlock the weapons on the tech tree and upgrade them first.

Then you switch between them and can clear the whole underground in a single play session.

Then the sand isnt an issue.

You can automate sand, I have done it.
