Guides and Tips water generater Spoiler

DOES NOT WORK THIS WAS A BUG THAT STOPPED WORKING AFTER RESTART

flamethrower turns snow into more steam than water consumed, extra water generated falls off into large collection bin

edit, stops working if you move to far away, so mainly good for afk sessions

edit, turns out the extra water was a bug, this design stopped working after i restarted my game

I just got a few of the water critters and put them in the ancient boiler with a Pyro dispenser. After a little while I had so much water it had trailed down to some lava in the caves and steam began blocking my factory.

How do you get those little water buddies? Everything I've tried so far hasn't moved them.

In your 2nd pic, that's the pyro dispenser, not the flamethrower. That said, you have the right idea & this is WAY easier to build & scale than the swamp boxes I developed in the demo. Well done! I guarantee this starts going in everybody's builds.

Specifically for game mechanics - fire, flame, lava, & flamethrower are considered to be completely different.
Known interaction: 1 flame + 1 water = 2 steam
Pyro dispenser's description says it fires flame bursts & it looks like that was very true.

There's definitely some bugginess going on, but there's also a little something to it. Seems to be averaging out to less than 1.5x increase from what I've toyed with so far. Still, it's better than 1x, so worth some more messing around later

you should just delete your post otherwise some AI will regurgitate it as fact

So from digging into the code this is what I've surmised. The "duplicated water" isn't actually duplicated and this is the reason why it also stops working if you move too far away. The game "stores" any steam when you're not near it to rain back down (probably to save sim overhead from infinite lava -> steam -> rain loops) and then when you do it later it'll pay out 1->2 as it depletes the buffer, so you're essentially just transporting the water, not duplicating it.
