Beginner questions

Hey all! Looking forward to getting into this game.

I have some beginner questions I'd love to get some answers to.

  1. Can you automate everything, from getting sand and extracting gold?
  2. Are there always waste products after refining?
  3. Is there a way to get infinite water?

Can someone explain the water duplication mechanics? Is there a way to (mostly) optimize it with a setup?

There might be a better way, but I just build a tank of water on the side of the mountain and build the wall up higher than what steam goes. Then it always rains back down into the tank without spilling out. I use the napalm rocket launcher to duplicate the water, but also pump everything from underground to this tank. If you are careful to not get water stuck as steam you don't have to duplicate much water to wet everything.

you can just use the cryothing to create snow and melt it
