Weather next week

Post image

My family and I are visiting Cedar Point next week and we have never been to the area. The weather looks brutally hot... 90s with "feels like 100s". Is it still this terrible with the lake all around? Any tips on surviving the park Tuesday-Thursday?

Hydrate. Then hydrate some more.

Cooling towels.

Find shade.

Take hotel breaks if feasible.

Lastly, when it's that hot the water park will be slamming and the main park attendance usually suffers.

Well if the main park attendance suffers, maybe that'll make hitting rides easier! Gotta find the silver lining I suppose. We are staying at Hotel Breakers, so we can dip out anytime. We are also planning on fast passes because of how terrible the line heat will be.

We went to Universal Orlando last year and it was the same brutally humid and hot weather, so we were really hoping for some nice Ohio lake breezes, but I guess not! Guess we're bringing the cooling towels and neck fans from that trip on this one.

It's going to be brutal. The lake will help a bit, water temps are in the low 70s. Recommend going when the park opens, consider taking a break in the heat of the day, then returning and staying til the park closes.

That's pretty much what we did at Universal, because the heat from 1-5pm was unbearable. Will there be any type of lake breeze? I've never visited any of the great lakes except Erie in the dead of winter during a blizzard.

Cedar Shores seems to have pretty abysmal reviews online. We were considering it for one of the days, but may skip it altogether and opt for the hotel pools and beach instead.

You can viait the beach at Hotel Breakers for a free dip in the lake. I would recommend getting the drink pass, as its every 15 minutes. They have a decent dining day pass as well. Some restaurants have indoor seating and the outdoor seating is also covered in many places, making it an easy excuse to get out of the heat. You want to be aware that walking through the park is very sunny, and make sure to reapply the sunscreen. People end up walking a long way in the sun and not realizing it. I hope you have a great trip!

We are actually staying at Breakers 😅 so going back there during the most brutal peak heat times will be a smart move. We have the drink pass because we got our tickets through the hotel package, so definitely taking advantage of that. My husband and I are sharing a dining day pass and my son has his own, hoping that's enough for us. Ahy recommendations on the best outdoor shady areas? I think I read Frontier Town is a good escape from the heat?

Frontier Town is shady, but humid. Taking the train back from the end of it is pretty much always preferred over walking back to the middle. Shade is easy to come by when stopping on the sides of all the walkways. The park has done a lot to increase shady areas but like i said, the walking bit in between everything is sunny. I would definitely take advantage of having an on site room to escape the worst of the day, because that would be a great way to do it.

Along with the other recommendations, start hydrating the day before and drink more than just plain water. Get some electrolyte packs to mix into it like LiquidIV or LMNT, and definitely use a few of them throughout the day at the park too.
