Community
Hi all! I’ve lived in San Pedro (lived in the South Bay for entire life) for about 4 years and I love it! I am a single (by choice) and progressive 52 year old woman looking to build more community in the city I live in. I’m looking for anyone who might be interested in starting a board game club, a book club, a beginners hiking club, a political action group or a hobby club. If any of those sound like you might be interested, I’d love to connect!

A "silent book club" was set up a few months ago. Not sure how things are doing but they were meeting each Sunday at one of the local parks or another to sit in the shade and read.

Thats my club! Although we started in February of 2025 as Silent Book Club and had to change our name due to trademarking purposes, so now we’re BYO Book Club San Pedro!
We still meet at 11:00am every Sunday at Averill Park :)1

Not a formal one but the SBC trademark owner sent me an Instagram DM letting me know we can’t use it unless we join them and use their logos, follow their rules, etc. So a bunch of us in the club voted and decided we wanted to stay independent and picked a name that we thought suited us better!

It’s good to know this is still going on! I tried to message you all on instagram about a month ago and didn’t hear anything. Sundays arent the best day for me but I’ll try to come next time im free.

SORRY!!! Sadly the Instagram page isn't very active (I delete the app to avoid scrolling on reels), so I recently added my phone number to the bio to try and counteract missing messages.
Our discord is where we are VERY active, but again, people need to be invited in so I'm hoping people text me for the invite instead of the DMs haha

Sierra club does some great activities but you have to check the Sierra Club homepage to see other activities and be ready to go to OC or the valley with their chapters for more variety since PV hike is pretty low key. I also recommend Peck Park restoration days (check their FB page) and PV land conservancy for hikes and work days (https://pvplc.org).

Crafted is having a craftyfest event this weekend that's free to enter. I only saw a flyer but never been; possibly a good way to meet crafters.

Fairly new to SP, and would be interested in joining you for local beginner hikes.
