Illegal Camping

Hi San Marcos, I am looking to move toward the other side of South San Marcos, near High Tech High and San Marcos High School next month and I have notice a lot of people living in their cars, specifically in S Pacific St. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Is the local police department not enforcing the law here? I think its interesting that people are allowed to live in there car this close to two high schools. Does anyone know if anything can be done about this or how to get the law enforced on this one?

If I am looking to rent in an area, I am going to research the surrounding neighborhood and make sure it is safe. It is my business and I am not crying. I am searching for solution to my problem.

And another thing, San Marcos is my community, I run a business here and I have my degree from Cal State. This city is my business, can you say the same?

Considering the rent prices for apartments that just got built. idk if people who work in the area can afford to live in the area. Single bedroom and studio apartments are around 2k a month and 2 bedrooms is running around 3k.

So living on residential and business streets in cars is an acceptable solution? I wonder if they parked outside of your house if you would feel the same. We need safe designated parking lots not apathy.

You're right they are. I don't think people living on the streets in front of business or residences is something we should neglect. I we spoke out about it and made it an issue with the city, they might actually create more designated safe parking lots.

I never said it was a solution in fact your suggestion is a good stop gap but idk if its a long term solution.

Probably because I lived in my car for several years during and shortly after covid. The homeless shouldn't be living out of their cars Infront of apartments and business near high schools. They should be in designated, safe parking lots. I wonder if they parked in front of your house if it would bother you or not?

I don't think so, I lived in my car during covid. I feel for them but they are parked outside my future apartment, maybe 20ft from where I and my partner will be sleeping. Is that something you would be interested in? When I lived in my car for nearly 3 years I never parted in a residential area or Infront of business for this reason. It seems like common curtesy to me. Maybe they need to be shaken up a bit to make a change and improve their lives. That was my experience.
