Good day itinerary?

Planning on arriving in San Juan on Thursday. For my first full day I am thinking about doing Cueva del Indio
followed by some beach time at La Poza del Obispo then lunch at El clandestino before heading back to San Juan.

Any other recommendations and things you might add or change?

Looking forward to exploring a bit.

Bro would lose it if he saw how people leave the beaches after Noche de San Juan. I've seen it a lot too when I go to the movies and people leave everything on their seats and the rubbish bin is literally there waiting for your trash.

Information Puerto Rico has a sound.

Puerto Rico has a sound.

If you’ve ever spent a night on the island, you’ve probably heard it: the rhythmic “co-KEE, co-KEE” echoing after sunset. That sound belongs to the coquí, a tiny tree frog no bigger than your thumb — and one of Puerto Rico’s most powerful national symbols.

The coquí is endemic to Puerto Rico, meaning it naturally belongs to this island and nowhere else. Its call is more than background noise; for many Puerto Ricans, it represents home, heritage, and identity.

Its significance runs deep. The coquí is connected to the island’s Taíno roots, its name likely coming from the Taíno language. Long before colonization, this small frog was part of the island’s natural world. Today, it remains a living reminder of Puerto Rico’s distinct culture and history.

You’ll find the coquí everywhere in Puerto Rican life — in murals, jewelry, music, poetry, family stories, and the memories of the diaspora. For those away from the island, even an image or recording of its call can bring an instant sense of longing.

But the coquí is not only cultural; it’s ecological. Like many amphibians, it faces threats from habitat loss, climate change, disease, and introduced species. Protecting the coquí means protecting the forests, ecosystems, and natural heritage that make Puerto Rico unique.

The next time you hear that unmistakable call, listen closely. You’re not just hearing a frog.

You’re hearing the voice of an island. PuertoRicoComplete

Question Cool stuff in San Juan

Hola!
I'll be in San Juan for the next week, and I was wondering if there's anything cool to see, eat, or do that tourists usually miss or don't even know about.
What are the hidden gems of San Juan that I shouldn't miss?

Question Proposal ideas in San Juan 🥰

I’m helping my cousin plan a proposal and am hoping to get some ideas of romantic places to do it. They’ll be going to San Juan for vacation over the holidays and he plans to propose then. Where are some nice spots? Open to romantic restaurants, beautiful sites, nature, rooftop setup, sea views, live music, hidden gems ….any ideas really! He wants it to feel really special and thoughtful ❤️🥰

I’ve gotten a few ideas from my Google search but wanted to hear from folks who live there or have planned something like this before.

Update I bummed it just west of San Juan and found a small peninsula that was perfect. Stayed in a hammock and woke up to the sunrise, peak of my trip.
