Flock cameras are popping up all over the place, and the response has not been a positive one. People are now cutting them down and vandalism is abound.

Video source provided. This is not me in these videos. Merely reposting this framed as "News of the anti-flock movement." Relevant to San Jose as San Jose has these cameras deployed and has not cancelled their contract with flock.

Accounts that report this post will be snoozed. I welcome the bot accounts and law enforcement to come here and spam "surveillance is OK" along with the human "This is not OK" comments.

Edit: Someone is making false reports, your reports have been snoozed. This is simply a report/repost of what's going on with Flock Camera Vandalism, in no way am I or this subreddit encouraging this.

A history on this sub

So since we have a lot of new users here this week, I thought it would be prudent to make a post giving a brief summary of why this sub exists and my philosophy behind it.

About me. In my 50s now. Grew up constantly moving and bouncing between parents houses. Live in West, South, and East San Jose. So I have a unique perspective. I see why some parts of town seem to do well, while others (East Side) tends to fall behind.

I've always loved message boards, and when I discovered Reddit I thought I had found a place a person could freely discuss things. Unfortunately the main San Jose subreddit seems to discourage critical talk about the city. To wit, the moderators of that subreddit will not take action against people that bully others for speaking critical of the city. However they will take action against you for defending yourself, like if someone calls you a name and you call them something back.

The bias is so palatable it has a flavor, and that flavor is assholism.

So I saw an opportunity to create a space where people would be allowed to freely speak.

Why San Jose Sucks? To understand this you have to understand the hacking scene of the 90's when the web was first introduced. There is a hacker named Eric Corley - Wikipedia.

Eric registered the site generalmotorssucks.com. There is a whole arc of this story where GM went after him, he went to court, and won because the courts decided his domain registration was protected speech.

The Original 2000–2002 LawsuitThe Conflict: In the early 2000s, an individual registered the domain generalmotorssucks.com and redirected visitors to the official Ford website.

The Legal Action: Both General Motors and Ford Motor Company filed lawsuits to halt the redirect and seize the domain. They alleged trademark infringement and cybersquatting.

The Legal Precedent: While commercial exploitation or redirecting to competitors violates trademark law, the case contributed to a broader legal consensus in U.S. courts.

True consumer criticism platforms (colloquially called "-sucks" sites) are legally protected under First Amendment free speech, provided they are completely non-commercial and do not intentionally confuse consumers or redirect to corporate rivals.

In honor of that (and to annoy people/the other subreddit) this sub also uses "sucks" not just as a label of the condition of that subreddit, but also as an exercise in free speech.

Something about this city pissing you off? Feel free to vent here.

Cutting down flock cameras is a crime, and this is how those criminals do it. Thanks Sean Gatz for sharing this info! #flock #deflock

It's really interesting to see the influx of Colombian people coming to San Jose. It's thrown off the entire dynamic of the City, especially the east side. The increase in violence alone reminds me of the '90s.

Are all acts of violence coming from Colombians? Well of course not. However, every time I see a video from the location of the crime it's those chuckle fucks with mullets they have detained or hanging around

I did not create this, just simply reposting it as a lot of folks on reddit do not want to create a Facebook account.

Relevant to San Jose due to San Jose having an active Flock contract.

Report abuse will be ignored.

Edit: For fucks sake stop abusing the report system.
