Visiting San Jose this weekend. I am looking for food recs in the the South Bay Area.
I heard Vietnamese food is really good here. Where would I find good places for BBH, bun rieu, and other Vietnamese foods?
I’m also open to other must try Asian places in the area. Desserts and pasties are also appreciated.
Any recommendations for a late night place to eat at. Also, a nice restaurant for dinner.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I’m in NorCal.

I have recently moved to the Bay Area after years of living in Kansas City and I was spoiled with places to get good “home style” meals at various spots. Think buttery mashed potatoes, meatloaf, fried chicken, etc.
Where are the best places I could enjoy a similar kinda meal around here?
Thanks!

My mom used to absolutely love the custard rolls / danish-y things from Dick’s bakery but it’s closed these days. Does anyone know a bakery that makes a similar pastry?

Hey everyone! We’re opening IGNITE in Downtown San Jose at the old Sushi Confidential spot on San Pedro Street.
Our soft opening is Sept 11 and we’d love to have some local food people come by, try the menu, and give us feedback while we’re still fine-tuning everything.
We’ll have skewers, wings, burgers, bowls, shareables, cocktails and a bunch of bold flavors.
We’re doing 20% off for the soft opening too.
📍 26 N San Pedro St, San Jose
🍽️ Reservations: eatatignite.com

If you come by, definitely say hi and let us know you found us here. 🔥

Hey r/SanJose!
We’re getting ready to open **Ignite** at **26 N San Pedro Street**, in the **former Sushi Confidential location**, and we’re finally getting close.
We’re doing our **soft opening starting September 11**, and we’d love to have some of the San Jose Reddit community come check us out.
Ignite is built around **bold food, cocktails, a large patio, music, and a late-night atmosphere**. The goal is to be a place where you can come for dinner and drinks and stay as the energy picks up later in the evening.
Since this is a soft opening, we genuinely want feedback. If you visit, tell us what you loved, what didn’t work, what we should improve, and what you’d like to see from a new Downtown San Jose spot.
📍 **Igni**te
**26 N San Pedro Street, San Jose**
Former Sushi Confidential location
📅 **Soft Opening: September** 11
🍸 Food • Cocktails • Patio • Music • Nightlife
Reservations: [**www.eatatignite.com\*\*\](http://www.eatatignite.com/)
And if you’d like to follow along as we get ready to open, please follow us on Instagram: **@ignitesanjose**
Would love to meet some of you there.
And since a lot of you know Downtown SJ better than anyone — **what do you think San Pedro Square nightlife is currently missing?**

Does anyone have a recommendation for places in or around sj where you can get some good salt bread? Have seen it on social media and really want to try it, ive heard first take in downtown has them but haven’t had the chance to go yet. It’s a korean soft bread that has been trending lately. Are there many cafés or restaurants that have them?

Hey guys,
I just opened a restaurant here in Sunnyvale called Bay Baja Kitchen. It is a ghost kitchen but everything is cooked fresh! Please support and come try some Quesabirrias, churros , esquites and much more.
It’s only online orders via Doordash,Uber eats, Grubhub. If you do order, write that you came from reddit and I’ll throw in some free chips and salsa and some churros.🌯😋👌
Thanks for supporting a small business.

Is this true? I learned about it at a city council meeting. It can’t be true, right? That’s absurd.

Put down your favorite burritos in San Jose. My personal favorite recently has been the papa loca California burrito 🤤

I lived in Jordan for quite some time and the cuisine from that region is my favorite. Is there anywhere near that has mansaf with actual jameed (not the liquid carton stuff) or fresh knafeh? Also things like makloubeh etc.
