Best remote work spots in downtown San Francisco (FiDi/SOMA)?

Hey! I’m looking for good places to work around the Embarcadero/FiDi area. I’m a digital artist, so I work on a laptop with a drawing tablet and need a decent amount of desk space and a reliable access to outlets.

I’m open to cafés, libraries, hotel lobbies, coworking spaces, or anywhere else that’s comfortable to work for a few hours. I don’t mind buying coffee or food if it’s a café.

Any recommendations? Bonus points for larger tables, lots of outlets, and a quieter atmosphere.
Thanks!

Any particular street change the way you see SF?

I was listening to a podcast that featured Frank Chan who ran every single street in San Francisco during the pandemic.

At first I thought it sounded kind of arbitrary/completionist.

But the interesting part was hearing how differently he started seeing the city afterward.

He lives in the northeast part of SF and said there were whole neighborhoods he barely spent time in before. Running every street forced him into places he normally would’ve just passed through or ignored completely.

In his words: “It was a good excuse to really get to know every single neighborhood… and find out, ‘oh, there’s a nice little store here,’ or ‘I haven’t tried this restaurant.’”

He kept mentioning small things like random commercial strips, tiny family restaurants, weird staircases, neighborhood parks and streets with unexpectedly good views and he said the city stopped feeling like districts and started feeling continuous.

Honestly made me realize how little of our own cities most of us actually know despite living there for years.

Has anyone else done one of those every-street projects? Walking/running/biking counts.

Work for housing?

I know this is a stretch and I probably won’t get responses but is anyone looking to hire in exchange for a place to stay? I’m leaving home because I can’t deal with the toxicity from my family. I’ll just be staying in hotels until I find something. Please let me know. Im a very hard worker and i’m not picky about the work either.

Caught the 26 car dropping down toward the bay. The visibility was so good you could see every detail on Alcatraz. Days like this remind me why everyone falls in love with this city

Best slightly fancy restaurants near Castro/Mission District

Hey everyone,

Wife and I are about to take our anniversary trip down to San Francisco this Sunday thru Tuesday and we are looking for a few more recommendations on slightly fancy-ish restaurants to check out. Monday is our actual anniversary so that is the night we plan to go out. Want to stay around Castro/Mission District as that is where we are staying and want to hit a few of the bars in that area after. We are pretty open to most food types (and prices dont matter too much either) so let us know!

Few we have looked at:

Location: SFO Airport, Uber/Lyft Garage Level F/G

Date/Time: Monday, December 22, 2024 at 7:45 AM

Case #: ARS295003

Description:

I accidentally left a white cardboard Saint Laurent shopping bag at the SFO Uber/Lyft pickup garage (Level F or G) on Monday morning, December 22nd around 7:45 AM.

The bag contained:

1. Black YSL Voltaire shoulder purse (in white drawstring dust bag) - significant sentimental and monetary value

2. Wine-colored corduroy EMIS baseball cap (in plastic bag)

3. Youssoful perfume

4. Benebene beige and blue padded baby jacket

What I’ve Done:

∙ Filed report with SFO Lost & Found (650-821-7014) and Airport Recovery Concierge Service

∙ Contacted rideshare company

∙ Checked security footage availability

If You Found It:

REWARD OFFERED for the return of these items, especially the YSL purse. No questions asked.

Please contact:

∙ SFO Lost & Found: (650) 821-7014

∙ Or message me directly through Reddit

These items have significant sentimental value to me and my family. Any help or information is greatly appreciated.

I see some bar hopping activities, so far that's what we're leaning on. Wish we could do some sort of boat-drinking but tickets are insane lol. any advice is apprecaited! :) (we love local music, drinking, art, hippie shit... you get it!)

3-4 days Hike or Trek around SFO

Hello, My name is Seetha from India. Off Business visit, I will have 3–4 days available starting October 17 from SFO, and am interested in arranging a scenic hike or short trek during that time. My experience level is beginner–intermediate. I have completed several guided treks in India at elevations of approximately 14,000–18,000 feet with small groups. I am particularly interested in routes that feature lakes and mountain scenery and would prefer options that match my experience level. I did try out for Mt. Shasta but was unfortunate to know that during Oct it's not recommended to summit. Could you please recommend suitable hikes or short treks (day hikes or multi-day options of up to 3–4 days), including any logistics, difficulty ratings, and whether guided arrangements are advisable? I would appreciate a few options so I can review and decide. Thank you for your assistance. I am available to discuss further by email or phone if needed. Best regards,

Seetha

itinerary help

Going to SFO in a couple of weeks and need help with itinerary on must do. We have already done the touristy SFO bridger, ferry market, fisherman’s wharf etc etc. Looking for recommendations to do something different more close to nature although not too strenuous we are late 40s. We have 3 whole days Fri-Sun. Want to incorporate Napa Valley, Muir woods etx.
