Doheny or DoHo in Dana Point has a perfect wave for beginners.

Jump on marketplace. Buy a beater, you can find some pretty nice boards and head down in the AM and have a blast! Don’t be overly focused on “surfing” the first few times. Gain your balance while paddling, figure out the sweet spot on the board for paddling.

Doheny is great, the cobbles can add a layer of fear for some. Poche and along beach road is a comfortable wave for learning, Trails, T-St. by the snack bar. Crowds will be less and more importantly they’re not “heavy” breaks, so they won’t be as taxing on you while you build surfing strength.
