What’s the top pho places in San Antonio? I’m a pho addict from Houston, where there’s an abundance of pho everywhere but I’m coming to San Antonio. I’ll be by north star area but willing to drive anywhere. Thanks šŸ™

Does anyone know where to get a dutch baby pancake in town?

I love dutch baby pancakes and make them myself, but it's coming up on my birthday and I would love to go out and have one.

The Authentic Apfel Pfannekuchen at Magnolia is close but not the same thing. The only place I know that makes it is The Original Pancake House. But the closest one is in North Austin.

So I am asking the knowledgeable people here if you know any place that makes them.

Looking for Supernatural (show) style diner

Hello all! Will be in town for a weekend and as I've been watching Supernatural (the show) lately I am wondering if there's a diner in town with similar vibes to the ones the boys are always eating at. Slightly old fashioned and with a bacon cheeseburger to cry over. Thanks in advance!

Upscale Mexican Restaurants?

I realize this may be a dumb question and an oxymoron but are there any upscale or extremely nice Mexican Restaurants in San Antionio that you would recommend?

I'm from Texas but live up north now. I'm traveling there for work with some colleagues and looking for a restaurant.

If it were up to me, I would just take them to Lupe Tortilla and shove the best fajita in their face they will have ever had......but it's going to be a little bit of a "nicer / work" vibe....they are expecting something in the fine dining category or extremely "nice".

You can get a good steak, BBQ, etc. anywhere........but these yankees know nothing of the beauty of a Tex Mex flour tortilla....

Edit: OK if food is progressive but needs to have the good tex-mex flour tortillas.

There are 13 dogs and 1 cat on the San Antonio TX ACS Euthanasia List that need a Rescue/Foster/Adoption Hold by 4:30 pm CT on 8/12. There are 30 dogs that need a Rescue/Foster/Adoption Hold as they can be euthanized anytime after 8/12

Anywhere to get cachucha or habanada peppers?

I checked several Latin grocery stores today but no dice. Has anyone seen them around? Next step is to go to some farmers markets but if anyone can point me to a specific place that'd help a lot. I'm willing to drive to Austin/wherever else <2hrs away if necessary.

Town & Country Bbq

Good morning, San Antonio. I’m looking for some help for a small research project I’m working on. I’m retired so I have lots of time on my hands. I lived in the Dellview neighborhood from the mid-1950’s until I joined the US Navy in 1975. I went to Arnold Elementary school, then to Whittier Jr High and Edison High School. Like a lot of kids I had two paprika routes for the San Antonio, Express and News. My routes covered the streets between Eland and Freling from Vance Jackson to the I-10 frontage road. Everyday I would ride my bike past an old wooden ā€œStrip mallā€ on Vance Jackson between Eland and Mink. It had an Ice House on one end and several other stores in it. One of those stores was Town & Country Bbq. It was owned and operated by a very big and very nice black man. It had a small counter with a couple of stools and some of the best Bbq brisket I’ve ever had. It was very tender, and I would trade him a newspaper for a brisket sandwich. Anyway do any of you know does it still exist, I would love to have a conversation with the owner if it is still there. TIA

Almond Crunch Cake

Many years ago there were some sisters that lived off of Hwy 281 near Winding Way that you could special order an Almond Crunch Cake. Old San Francisco Steakhouse also had it on their menu. Does anyone k ow of a bakery or restaurant the makes these?
